Yangang Shines at Northeast India Tourism Awards 2025 with Double Honour

Yangang, South Sikkim | October 11, 2025

In a moment of immense pride for the State of Sikkim, the picturesque town of Yangang, located in South Sikkim, has been bestowed with a prestigious title at the Northeast India Tourism Awards (NEITA) 2025, earning recognition as the “Best Emerging Destination.”

The honour was presented during the inaugural edition of the Northeast India Tourism Awards, held on October 11, 2025, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Guwahati.

Instituted as the “Oscars of Northeast Tourism,” the NEITA aims to celebrate and acknowledge the outstanding efforts of destinations, individuals, and initiatives contributing to the growth and innovation of tourism across the eight Northeastern states of India.

Yangang was recognised for its remarkable growth trajectory, adventure tourism offerings, and sustainable, community-driven development that beautifully weaves together environmental stewardship and cultural preservation.

Accepting the award on behalf of Yangang were two eminent figures who have played a pivotal role in the town’s tourism transformation:

• Mr. Robin Basnet, a distinguished name in sustainable tourism and rural development in Sikkim, who envisioned Yangang as a leading tourism destination more than a decade ago.
• Mr. Bijay Limboo, a passionate birdwatching expert and founder of the “Visit Yangang” initiative, who has worked tirelessly to promote eco-tourism and experiential travel in the region.

Their visionary efforts and commitment to responsible tourism have turned Yangang into a vibrant destination for adventure enthusiasts, birdwatchers, and cultural travellers seeking authentic Himalayan experiences.

Yangang’s recognition at NEITA 2025 comes at a time when the destination is garnering nationwide attention for its unspoiled natural beauty, rich biodiversity, and immersive rural experiences. From trekking and paragliding to indigenous homestays and birding trails, Yangang offers travellers a truly authentic glimpse of the Eastern Himalayas.

With this latest accolade adding to its growing list of national recognitions, Yangang continues to cement its position as one of India’s most promising travel destinations.

As the region advances towards sustainable growth, Yangang stands as a shining example of how community-driven tourism and visionary leadership can redefine the tourism landscape — not only in the Northeast but across the country.

International Peace Day 2025: Act now for a Peacefull World

International Peace Day, observed every year on 21st September, is a global reminder of the importance of peace, unity, and harmony among nations and people. Established by the United Nations in 1981, the day calls for a world free from violence, conflict, and hatred.

The theme of International Peace Day often focuses on pressing global challenges such as climate change, human rights, and social justice, emphasizing that true peace is not just the absence of war but also the presence of equality, development, and respect for all.

On this day, individuals, communities, and governments across the world engage in peace marches, educational programs, cultural events, and moments of silence to promote compassion and cooperation. It is also a time for reflection—reminding us that peace begins within ourselves and extends to how we treat others.

“When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.” – Jimi Hendrix

International Peace Day inspires humanity to work together for a brighter, more inclusive, and sustainable future. It reinforces the message that peace is possible when each of us contributes with kindness, tolerance, and understanding.

Happy International Peace Day to all.
