Assangthang Pragati Samaj Wins District Level Sports Meet 2026

Namchi, South Sikkim: Assangthang Pragati Samaj from the Namchi Block emerged as the champions of the District Level Sports Meet 2026 held at Bhaichung Bhutia Stadium, Namchi.

Earlier, the Block Level Sports Meet was organised at PM Shri Assangthang Secondary School, where Assangthang Pragati Samaj became the block champion and qualified for the district level competition. In the district meet, they competed against various youth clubs from different blocks under Namchi district and successfully lifted the championship trophy.

The team was led by Asit Rai, a renowned football coach from Assangthang. Through his dedication and guidance, he has helped uplift many young footballers from villages under 36 Assangthang GPU. He has been actively working for the promotion of sports at the village and state level in Sikkim, inspiring many youths to participate in football and other sporting activities.

Their victory has brought pride and recognition to the Assangthang community.
