Mr. Tokhan Sahu, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, visited PM Shri Government Secondary School Assangthang. He was accompanied by Namchi-Singithang MLA Satish Chandra Rai and Assangthang Panchayat Vice President Bhim Narayan Rai. During the visit, the delegation reviewed the school’s development initiatives and interacted with students, encouraging them to pursue academic excellence and active participation in community building.

As part of the visit, the Minister of State was presented with a detailed PowerPoint presentation showcasing the school’s key achievements and ongoing infrastructural improvements. The presentation highlighted the establishment of digital classrooms and an ICT lab aimed at enhancing technological learning among students. The installation of solar panels was noted as a step towards promoting renewable energy use on campus. Improvements in basic amenities, such as upgraded water facilities and the installation of a CCTV surveillance system to ensure a safe and secure environment, were also outlined.

Mr. Sahu appreciated the efforts made by the school management, teachers, and local authorities in uplifting the standard of education and infrastructure. He emphasized the importance of continued investment in educational institutions to prepare future leaders and expressed his satisfaction with the school’s progress under various government initiatives.

Nikheal Chettri was felicitated for his outstanding performance in the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

The honor was bestowed upon him by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse, Minister of State for Sports & Youth Affairs (GoI), and Hon’ble Minister Shri Bhoj Raj Rai.

This recognition follows his selection in January 2025 to represent Sikkim at the prestigious event. Assangthang Football Association, 22.01.2025; 76th Republic Day Football Tournament is being held at PM Shri Assangthang Secondary School playground celebrated with great enthusiasm under the theme “Sunaulo Samriddha Ani Samarth Sikkim.” The event was graced by Chief Guest Shri Arjun Jaiswal, a distinguished businessman and entrepreneur, who encouraged the participants with his motivating words. Special Guests included Shri Rekhiman Tamang, Youth Convener of 10 Poklok Kamrang, along with Shri Dili Thapa and Shri Kabiraj Manger, both dedicated SKM Party Karyakartas. The tournament reflected the essence of unity and sportsmanship, inspiring everyone to work towards a prosperous and empowered Sikkim.

Voice NGO organized a cleanliness drive and plantation recheck at Asanthang Helipad and Samboung Monastery, under the Swachh Bharat Aviyan initiative.

The event saw the participation of Shri Bhim Narayan Rai, Vice President of 36 Asanthang GPU, Smt. Prem Maya Tamang, Panchayat Middle Asanthang, and Prominent Young Social worker Mr. Nikheal Chhetri. Other attendees included Ms. Sarsawati Rai, President of VOICE NGO, Mr. Pema Yhaisar Tamang, State Secretary of Press and Publicity for VOICE NGO, Mr. Chandan Rai, Namchi District Coordinator VOICE NGO members of the Samboung United Youth Club, and VOICE NGO members.

The program began by welcoming all participants, followed by the recitation of a pledge, emphasizing their commitment to cleanliness and environmental care. The event was initiated with enthusiasm, focusing on collective efforts to promote a clean and green environment.

The cleanliness drive started at Assangthang Helipad, where participants worked together to clean the area, collecting litter, including plastic and paper waste. The collected garbage was deposited in designated bins and kept aside for proper disposal by the N.M.C.

After the cleanup at the helipad, the group moved on to Samboung Monastery for the plantation recheck. The participants assessed the health of previously planted saplings, ensuring they were well taken care of. They watered the plants and gave attention to those that needed additional care, reinforcing their commitment to fostering green spaces in the area.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the participants for their dedication and hard work. The presence of community leaders and the active involvement of youth groups contributed to the success of the program. The initiative by VOICE NGO not only promoted cleanliness but also highlighted the importance of environmental stewardship, leaving a positive impact on the community.
