Namsai | August 3, 2025

In a significant move to begin preparations for the upcoming Poi P*e Mau 2120 celebration, a coordination meeting was convened today at the Poi P*e Mau Ground, Namsai, under the initiative of the Tai Khamti Development Society (TKDS).

The meeting was chaired by Chow Shiharaja Chautang, President of TKDS, and was attended by several key stakeholders including Chow Anuradha Mantaw (General Secretary, TKDS), Chow Jaling Mannow (Secretary General, TKSC), Chow Molasheng Namchoom (Outgoing President, PPMCC 2119), along with representatives from ATKSSU, ANAYA, NDSU, and youth leaders of the region.

The primary agenda of the meeting was to constitute a new Poi P*e Mau Celebration Committee for the 2120 festivities, which are slated to take place in Namsai later this year.

After thorough deliberation, the house unanimously nominated the new office bearers for PPMCC 2120. Chow Sengkhun Manchey was appointed as the President, Chow Khamoon Manpoong as the General Secretary, and Chow Silanam Mungkang as the Treasurer/Finance Secretary.

The gathering marked the official start of planning for one of the most culturally significant celebrations of the Tai Khamti community. The newly formed committee is expected to carry forward the legacy of the festival with renewed enthusiasm and broader community engagement.

NADI UTSAV Phase - 1 launched at Namsai

08/07/2025

Namsai, July 2025:
The All Tai Khamti Singpho Students’ Union (ATKSSU) successfully hosted the third edition of its Annual Felicitation Programme 2025 at the Namsai Multipurpose Cultural Hall. The event was dedicated to honouring outstanding individuals for their remarkable achievements in academics, sports, cultural preservation, and social service.

The programme saw the felicitation of students excelling in board and university examinations, athletes who brought laurels to the community, cultural practitioners committed to preserving indigenous heritage, and individuals who made significant contributions to social upliftment.

Such recognition not only celebrates personal excellence but also serves a deeper purpose: it fosters a culture of aspiration and community pride. By publicly acknowledging these contributions, the Union aims to inspire younger generations to strive for excellence, while also reinforcing the value of preserving cultural identity and engaging in social responsibility. These honourees become role models, bridging tradition and progress in a rapidly changing world.

Through initiatives like this, ATKSSU continues to play a vital role in uplifting community morale, preserving heritage, and promoting holistic development among the Tai Khamti and Singpho youth.

Message to Kontai@CHOW RONNIE CHOWPOO

*Respected Elders and Dear Pinongs,*

As the wave of euphoria and warm congratulatory messages continues to pour in and will eventually settle, I wish to take a moment to convey my deepest and most profound gratitude to the entire *Tai Khamti* family. Your kind wishes, constant support, and unwavering encouragement have been a source of immense strength for me.

It is indeed a great honour and an immense privilege for me to be entrusted with the responsibility of Commanding an Indian Naval Warship. On this proud occasion, I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the pillars of my life - my parents and my family, whose guidance, sacrifices, and steadfast support have shaped not only my career but the very person I am today.

Neil Armstrong, the first human to set foot on the moon, once famously remarked, “_That’s one small step for man, but one giant leap for mankind_.” In that spirit, I recognise that this achievement, though a personal milestone in my service to the nation, is also a historic moment and a significant leap forward for our Tai Khamti community, our District, and our State.

As I take on the responsibility of leading and commanding the finest sailors and soldiers onboard My Warship, I remain equally mindful and aware of my duties and responsibilities towards our Tai Khamti community. It is a matter of great pride and humility for me to be seen as an inspiration and role model for our youth. I consider it my earnest duty to mentor and guide the young sons and daughters of our community — our Mao Tai and Sao Tai.

To them, I say this with conviction: “*The journey from the serene banks of Nam Teang and Nam Trao to the vast, boundless waters of the Indian Ocean may seem distant and daunting, but it is most certainly within your reach and not impossible at all*”.

Once again, from the depths of my heart, I extend my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you.

Thank you

*A humble Kountai and proud ‘Son of Namsai’*
