Message to Kontai@CHOW RONNIE CHOWPOO
*Respected Elders and Dear Pinongs,*
As the wave of euphoria and warm congratulatory messages continues to pour in and will eventually settle, I wish to take a moment to convey my deepest and most profound gratitude to the entire *Tai Khamti* family. Your kind wishes, constant support, and unwavering encouragement have been a source of immense strength for me.
It is indeed a great honour and an immense privilege for me to be entrusted with the responsibility of Commanding an Indian Naval Warship. On this proud occasion, I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the pillars of my life - my parents and my family, whose guidance, sacrifices, and steadfast support have shaped not only my career but the very person I am today.
Neil Armstrong, the first human to set foot on the moon, once famously remarked, “_That’s one small step for man, but one giant leap for mankind_.” In that spirit, I recognise that this achievement, though a personal milestone in my service to the nation, is also a historic moment and a significant leap forward for our Tai Khamti community, our District, and our State.
As I take on the responsibility of leading and commanding the finest sailors and soldiers onboard My Warship, I remain equally mindful and aware of my duties and responsibilities towards our Tai Khamti community. It is a matter of great pride and humility for me to be seen as an inspiration and role model for our youth. I consider it my earnest duty to mentor and guide the young sons and daughters of our community — our Mao Tai and Sao Tai.
To them, I say this with conviction: “*The journey from the serene banks of Nam Teang and Nam Trao to the vast, boundless waters of the Indian Ocean may seem distant and daunting, but it is most certainly within your reach and not impossible at all*”.
Once again, from the depths of my heart, I extend my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you.
Thank you
*A humble Kountai and proud ‘Son of Namsai’*
