The Art of Visual Communication: Impact Films 2020

Impact

The year 2020 was one for the history books. From a devastating global pandemic to a whopping total of 207 natural disasters recorded globally in the first six months alone, the new decade brought with it a period of uncertainty, tragedy, and universal loss.

In times of doubt and silence, it is art that speaks in words we most need to hear. From former United States Vice President, Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth, to Sir David Attenborough’s witness statement of his 94 years as an explorer and broadcaster, A Life on Our Planet, non-fiction narratives have long heroed the oft-ignored crises that are now unfolding before our very eyes.

As we leave 2020 behind, let’s take a look at what lies ahead. As we usher in a new year, it’s important to remind ourselves of our place in the grand tapestry of life, and how our actions and inactions can affect the world around us.

Climate change is real, and the issue has never been so prevalent as it appears in our world today. Worldwide pandemics, natural disasters, rising sea levels and habitat and species loss can all be traced back to the root issue of an unstable climate. With rapidly declining ecosystems and environmental instability, the world we know and love may be changed irrevocably.

This year, let’s make a collective resolution for the betterment of the home we know and love. There is no Planet B.
