Whats this Joker movie all about
Take on
Contains SPOILERS.
Disclaimer: Every movie is subject to an individual’s liking, it may differ from person to person. Below is my Take.
Arthur Fleck who is suffering from a Mental Condition, works as a clown at “HaHa” where the fellow co-workers are already freaked about his behavior. Arthur wanting to be Stand Up Comedian, whose jokes aren’t really funny. In the words of Joker “What You might find funny, I might not”
Just when his mum says Thomas Wayne for the first time, I was like OMG! They are doing this. They did go edgy we can say with the Joker as a character.
Be it giving the reference to the malnutrition which he was suffering as a kid when he was rescued, where his Mum was put in the Asylum for Treatment. Or be it that chilling Murder of Thomas and Martha.
Thomas Being considered the Villain in the movie, as he is filthy rich, and blames the poor for their own poverty
Arthur Fleck is also going through Delusional psychosis, which her mum was going through in the past. You can relate it with the scenes in which Zazie Beetz & Joaquin Phoenix are shown together
You laugh along when he is being laughed upon, you feel him being miserable going through severe trauma. But later starts to embrace himself and its ok not to smile
You feel the rage in him, clap and cheer him when he takes the first shot on Murray Franklin (Robert De Niro) the buildup to the scene is fantabulous
The way crowd cheers for him when he stands up, and uses the blood leaking from his nose to pull the smile mark on his face was totally LIT
His laughter kinda feels a bit overdone maybe, or be it the way he just stops laughing in an instant to walk into the room of the boss at “haha”
The dance moves, when he goes down on the steps before the chase happens by the detectives. Shows the devil being let lose
I just wish, they could have shown us some more brutal murders. The blood shed would have been good
The movie is sick on certain levels, but what were you expecting? This movie is about the Finest Comic Book Villain that has been ever created
The music in many places builds the tension, but it doesn’t really have the magic though to make you feel haunted and sick
Overall is one of those slow burn movies, which take its time to get into and hook you up and leave you wanting for more to be explored on the serious condition of “Arthur Fleck” Aka Joker
Joaquin Rafael Phoenix certainly deserves a nomination for Best Actor, if the Oscars are to be held tomorrow. You can say give this man the award already. But we are just getting started to enter the season where the studios will release the contenders. I do also feel that this film will sneak into the Best Movie race too, it sure will not be awarded but a nomination can be very much expected
