Opening Ceremony of 18th UT Water Skiing Championship 2025-26 Held in Srinagar

Srinagar, October 16, 2025:
The 18th UT Water Skiing Championship 2025-26, organized by the Jammu & Kashmir Water Skiing Association, commenced today with great enthusiasm at the Water Ski & Wakeboard Point, near Eco Park, Shalimar Ghat, Fore Shore Road, Srinagar.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Qadri (JKAS), Vice Chairman of the Jammu & Kashmir Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA), who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The championship witnessed an overwhelming participation of over 150 students from across the Union Territory, showcasing their skills and passion for water sports. The event was conducted smoothly under the able supervision of the association’s officials.

The General Secretary, Mr. Muzaffar Shah, and Senior Vice President, Mr. Jasim Muzaffar, were also present at the ceremony. The Public Relations & Media Incharge, Mr. Zaid Ul Hassan, expressed gratitude to all participants, guests, and the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council for their continued support in promoting water sports in the region.

The championship aims to encourage youth participation in adventure and water-based sports, highlighting the natural beauty and sporting potential of Jammu & Kashmir.

Renowned Poet, Writer and Broadcaster Zahid Mukhtar Passes Away

Srinagar, Oct 9 (JKNS): The world of art and literature today lost a shining star as noted poet, writer, critic, actor and broadcaster Zahid Mukhtar from Anantnag passed away.

As per news agencyJKNS Zahid Mukhtar from Anantnag passed away at 7:30 AM at his residence Nayee Basti Anantnag.

Mukhtar dedicated his life to literature, art, poetry, acting, journalism, and broadcasting from a young age. A multi-faceted personality, he was a distinguished poet, a gifted prose writer, a seasoned broadcaster, and a compassionate human being.

His contributions to Urdu and Kashmiri literature remain unforgettable. Author of several books, Mukhtar’s writings and poetry continue to touch the hearts of readers and admirers. His command over both Urdu and Kashmiri languages earned him a unique place in the literary world, while his words reflected depth, wisdom, and sensitivity.

Zahid Mukhtar was not only a literary figure but also a humane artist with strong social awareness whose presence enlivened every cultural gathering. His demise has left a void in the fields of literature, journalism, and broadcasting that will be difficult to fill for years to come.(JKNS)

J&K | CM Omar Abdullah chaired a comprehensive review of CAPEX and CDF expenditure for 2025–26. The meeting assessed department- and district-wise progress under CAPEX and CDF.

Chief Minister stressed the need for accelerated work ex*****on and timely fund utilization. He directed departments to ensure 100% uploading of works on BEAMS and expedite the tendering process, keeping in view the limited working season, particularly in the Kashmir division. He also emphasized close coordination with Hon’ble MLAs to fast-track CDF works and ensure visible outcomes on the ground.

Lieutenant Governor expresses gratitude to Hon'ble Prime Minister and Hon'ble Union Agriculture Minister for Advance Release of 21st instalment of PM-KISAN Scheme for J&K’s farmers affected by floods

Approximately Rs.171 Cr will be directly transferred into the bank accounts of around 8.55 Lakh eligible farmers of J&K

Srinagar, October 07 (GNS): Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha has expressed gratitude to Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Hon'ble Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan for advance release of 21st instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme for the farmers of UT of Jammu Kashmir.

In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor has said:
“I am extremely grateful to Hon'ble PM Shri Ji and Hon'ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Ji for advance release of 21st instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme for the farmers of J&K UT.

Approx. Rs.171 Cr will be directly transferred into the bank accounts of around 8.55 Lakh eligible farmers of J&K today. This much-needed financial assistance will help our farmers to sustain their livelihoods, speed up recovery to resume agricultural activities.

Our farmers are the backbone of the economy and providing strong foundation for growth in other sectors. The GOI is committed to provide all possible assistance to mitigate the effects of worst floods in several decades and ensuring stability in the lives of the affected population”.(GNS)
