Let Go, Like the Monk Did 🌧️🙏
I once read a story that touched my heart deeply.
Two monks were walking through a forest. They came across a young woman standing at the edge of a muddy river, afraid to cross. Without hesitation, the older monk lifted her up and carried her to the other side. The younger monk was shocked—they had taken a vow to never touch a woman! But he stayed silent.
Hours passed as they continued their journey. The younger monk couldn’t hold it anymore and finally asked, “Why did you carry her? We are not supposed to touch women!”
The older monk smiled and replied, “I carried her across the river, but you’re still carrying her in your mind.”
This story reminds me of something very important—life gets easier when we stop fighting what we cannot control.
Like the quote in the image says, rain will fall whether we complain or not. Traffic will exist, people will behave as they do, and the world won’t stop spinning for our stress. So why hold on to it?
Let go. Breathe. Focus on what you can change. Your reactions, your thoughts, your peace.
Because sometimes, the heaviest burdens we carry… are the ones we were supposed to put down long ago.
