As of Apr 2018, Out of 4,900 leaders (MP/MLA), 1,580 (33%) had criminal cases. Out of these 1,580, ~48% have declared criminal cases against them that involve crimes against women among others.

It is not just news/media channels fault that they serve sh*tty content. We Indian are not capable of investing our efforts and interest to view/read good reporting. Media is a profession, those who don't accept it, go out of business pretty soon. It would be stupid of us to expect that TRP and views analytics will be ignored and cutting edge stuff will be served which 99% people don't appreciate.
