We Deserve Cleaner And Hygienic Fish Markets
How Long Will It Be Before We Can Buy Our Fish From Clean Shops?
The CR Park fish markets may be one of the popular markets in Delhi but civic authorities' negligence has ensured that you would not want to step into the market if given a choice.
For the lack of a cleaner Convenience Shopping Centre, the residents are forced to visit these markets for their daily needs. Although, from an observation of the crowd frequenting the markets, one can see that the crowd basically belong to the working class who put up quarters in the adjoining area of Govindpuri etc. Most residents prefer now to buy their needs online or from super markets. So, the markets, which are meant for the convenience of residents primarily, are being used by total outsiders and are of less use for the local residents.
Bengalis from nearby parts of Delhi still keep visiting the fish markets of Market 1 & Market 2 of CR Park. But many of them are slowly switching over to the cleaner shops of the Malls and the super- markets which are selling cleanly packaged fish and other non-veg. Even the price of fish in these malls and super-markets are not as exorbitant as some people would like to make us believe.
The area around the shops facing the main road is always in a stinking state with the waterlogged holes with fish washed water and fish scales and muck is clearly visible towards the back and near the fish market.
"We have been in touch with officials from various authorities but no one has been able to sort out the problem," said people from the Market Association. As a result, the market association is forced to pay for the maintenance of the market. Nobody wants to own the upkeep of the market place and keep throwing the ball from one court to the other. The sewers in the area are mostly blocked, leading to waterlogging and mosquito breeding. The stench in the market is very bad and the area behind the fish market is a ground full of garbage, muck and dirty water.
Still we hope that someday we will have a nice, clean and muck & stink free fish market in CR Park.
