We at Humans had a great time these 2 years, listening to your incredible stories and relaying them to the rest of the batch. We've learnt so much from this experience and wish this could have gone on some more. But, as all good things come to an end, this one shall too.
Special thanks to Anurag Singh Tilara for his support towards the second year of Humans.
A big thanks to all of those who were willing to share their stories with us and also to the ones who read our posts. We loved your appreciation and learned from the criticism.

It's a wrap from us here!

“My grandmother was my favorite story teller. She used to weave her stories so beautifully that I still remember all of them. As time went by, life got busier and priorities changed. The enthralling web of her stories got lost somewhere.
I was preparing for my CAT examination and to develop a habit of reading, I had picked up ‘AJAYA’ by Anand Neelakantan. The book was about the ‘Kaurava’s’ perspective on the Mahabharata. The book made me realize that things can be seen from a different glass. Around the same time, I faced a couple of failures in life. I wanted to be a part of this newly launched magazine called ‘Alekh’, but that didn’t work out. I was working with an NGO Gramiksha as a marketing associate, but that didn’t go down well either. I wanted an escape and that is when ‘NAZARIA’ happened. With a friend of mine, I started this literary initiative. We started writing articles on current affairs but with a different ‘nazaria’. It was all going well until I wrote this article about the infamous AIB- Roast. The article was thrashed by an onslaught of negative comments. A well-wisher made me realize that day where I was going wrong. And so, the idea of ‘Nazaria’ was also thrashed. I really wanted to write something of my own
I restarted with writing fiction. I used to make a lot of grammatical errors, I still do. But people liked my ideas. I wrote a story ‘I Was Afraid Too’ which was appreciated by the Times of India. Slowly and steadily, I started finding excitement in my new love. With over 150 short stories in my bag now, one of which is being converted into a short movie, I feel it was all destined. I don’t know about the future, but right now I am pretty much enjoying it. I am now writing a book, which may soon be published.
I feel bad when people call me a writer, I am a story teller. People love my stories because they particularly enjoy the plot twists right at the end and I love amazing people. I believe that there is no such thing as an obstacle. You just need to change your vehicle or your path to move further. For me fiction is now a different world, where you are the master, you own the characters and you decide the fate. A parallel world open for exploration.”

“Being the first child in the family, I have forever been pampered. I always got whatever I demanded for, even if I had to throw a huge fit for it. At school, I used to excel at almost everything I took part in whether it was academics or cultural activities. All these factors brought within me a feeling of superiority. Before I knew it, I grew into a person who could never take ‘no’ for an answer and I couldn’t accept opinions that differed from mine. I still remember a day back in 10th standard when I got into a fight with my mom over something. I was so furious, that I threw my phone which shattered into pieces on the floor. That is when I realized and accepted that I had an anger management issue. A conversation with an astrologer made me realize how this trait was affecting my personality and bringing me down in life. I resolved to change this part of my personality.
I googled different ways to tackle this issue, I went for multiple Art of Living courses. I read extensively on this problem that I had because I realized that just accepting the fact that I have an anger management problem wouldn’t make any difference. I had to proactively work towards combating it.
Over the years, 2 things have helped me manage and control my problem. Even today, there are times when I’m bubbling with anger and I start palpitating. It might sound funny, but what I do is reverse counting. I actually count from 10 to 1 before responding to the situation. I respond, I don’t react.
I’m a very religious person, so apart from reverse counting, another thing that helps me a lot is praying. Whenever I’m not in the best mood, I sit quietly and pray. I feel a beautiful, positive aura around me after praying. It’s amazing how praying calms me down. I don’t think people need to go to temples to pray. Praying can be done anywhere for however long one feels like it. Praying, I don’t think should be defined or approved by society. It’s an internal experience and should be personal to every human being."

"My grandfather was my best friend. It is said that as people grow older, the child within them starts to prance prominently. My grandfather was my partner in crime all through my childhood and adult years. I used to steal snacks that were forbidden for him from my grandma and bring them to him, only to see the glee in his eyes. He used to buy me GI Joe’s in return for my little favours. I fondly remember the times when as a kid, I went to the market with him and he would hide behind cars as a prank to scare me. We were always there for each other. He had severe arthritis, but he made sure he inspired all those around him. There wasn’t a day when the smile on his face and the vigour in his heart came down.

He passed away last year leaving a huge void in my life. He not being there anymore has made me realize a lot of things. We as MBA students feel we’re under so much pressure, that we cease to appreciate and enjoy the little things in life. And life is actually about these very little things that we start to ignore as we get busier in our schedules.
Also, today because of the rapid change in society, a lot of us don’t spend time with our grandparents and that is the saddest thing we can do to ourselves. We have our parents and siblings, but the love and learning that comes from grandparents is incomparable. Most of our parents are working these days and that’s where grandparents step in. That’s how it worked out for me. They’ve taught me so much about life that nothing and no one can ever come even close to replacing their presence in my life.
I think all of us need to realize our grandparents’ value in our lives and give them much more than the love and support they deserve."

"I was interning with 13 different companies during the break after my 12th boards. That was one of the biggest learning experiences in my life. In my first year of college, I started with this social entrepreneurship project called “The Thoughts of Nations” where we went to downtrodden areas in Delhi and tried to understand and alleviate the problems persisting there. I got a chance to work with Mr Arvind Kejriwal through this project. Of course this isn’t easy for a first year student. This was actually possible because of this guy I got to know through LinkedIn who was an entrepreneur and had similar projects all over the country. He actually backed me and wanted me to carry this out in Delhi. Post this is when I started with my own firm, University Express.

There is so much potential in LinkedIn to turn our lives around. We, as MBA students tend to see it as only a placement platform, but there is so much beyond that, that LinkedIn has to offer. I started off with connecting with people in my preferred industry, increasing my circle of contacts while positively harnessing all the knowledge, experience and information they could share with me. I didn’t even realize when I started being used as a point of contact by fellow LinkedIn users.

My advice to the junior batch specifically would be to utilize these 2 years to the fullest. 99% of the people are here only for jobs, which is good but in the process we tend to miss out on other important things. MBA is mostly an out of the class learning experience. Use these 2 years to build yourselves and gain as much exposure as you can. The rest will follow automatically."

"What would LBSIM have been without this friendship?"

Sarthak: "I can't really imagine LBSIM without these people. It would have been dull, no i10 rides, without tyre punctures & without spending time at our ADDA. (behind the tree)."
Shaunik: "Pheeka without chucha! We became friends randomly, and now the bond is so strong that we can talk about random things all day without getting bored."
Taru: "When I came to this institute, I didn’t find friends initially. I was on medication for depression, and then I met Shaunik who became my best friend and brought this crazy guy too who now is my best bhai.
The real bhai among us is Sonakshi, the one who is really possessive about all of us."

“I love Shah Rukh Khan.”

“Why?”

“I love the way he speaks in his interviews and I’m a fan of his wit. I feel he’s one of the most intelligent actors in the industry. He has done a lot of charitable work till now, and I respect him for that. I feel quite a few people in our country have a problem with people who speak their minds; they find it difficult to accept that even multiple, contrasting opinions can co-exist in harmony. That’s something that needs to change.
Anyway, I don’t think I need to validate or vindicate SRK for anyone.

“No religion in this world warranties the killing of mankind, and Islam is one of the most peaceful religions in the world. Today, everyone very conveniently stereotypes the entire religion and community into one bracket. They fail to see the larger picture. The point is, that religion does not make or break personalities. If I’m a good person from within, no religion can corrupt me. Yes, killings happen in the name of ISIS and other terrorist groups, but we need to stop judging the problem from the surface. Where are these people getting the arms and ammunition from? Where do they get the money from? There is a bigger picture that we either fail to see or don’t want to see. These are purely attacks on humanity and no religion should be blamed for things like this. We need to understand the root cause of the problem and solve it with love only.”
“A few hours before the Paris attacks happened, there were attacks in Beirut, but those went unreported. No one spoke about them. Thousands of people are killed in Yemen, Syria, Gaza almost on a regular basis, but we see no statuses, posts or support pictures regarding that on Facebook or any other media for that matter. These attacks and mass killings are extremely unfortunate, but people need to stop generalising and putting all people related to Islam into one category. Stop, think and delve into the real reasons behind all this."

"Bahut Kuchh Humne Khoya,
Aur Bahut Kuchh Paaya,
Kasam Se Iss Zindagi Ne Humein Bahut Hasaaya,
Bahut Rulaaya,
Phir Bhi Shikwa Nahi Iss Zindagi Se Hume Koi,
Kyunki Isi Ne Kuchh Haseen Dosto Se Bhi Milaaya!"

"When a person is in trouble or is frustrated with things, he tends to start believing in all kinds of remedies he hears about. I don’t believe in tantriks, but I’m a firm believer of God. There was a certain problem that was haunting my family for the longest time, and it was a very serious matter. The intensity of the repercussions of the problem was way beyond what you can imagine. One fine day, I decided to keep chaliya, where for 40 days I was supposed to visit a temple daily and leave non-vegetarian food. It was a very spontaneous decision, an epiphany of sorts. Whether rain or snow, I went to the temple every day with utmost devotion. In the middle I had to leave Delhi and go to a different city for some work. Even there, my first priority was to find a temple. On the 42nd day, I got a call informing me that the problem that had been disturbing my entire family for years had been resolved. This is just one of the many incidents that fortified my faith in God."

"A few words that I wrote in the time of Turmoil are as follows..
Aey Zindagi Tu Itni Badsalukhi Na Kar,
Kaun Sa Yaha Hum Baar-Baar Aane Waale Hai!"

“I’m a very optimistic person. I feel people tend to become very short-sighted stuck in the maze of life. Everything that happens happens for a reason and everything eventually falls into place. But more often than not, we fail to see the larger picture of things. I also believe that life moves in circles. What you do comes back to you. So give out positivity and eventually positivity is what you’ll get back.”
“People here probably perceive that I’m someone who loves to study all the time. But, I actually love colors. Colors make me happy and in my free time I resort to sketching. I also help my mother in her initiative to teach the lower strata of the society about sanitation and health. This is my way of doing good and spreading positivity around me.”

"People who know me know how much of a fitness freak I am. My health has forever been one of my top priorities, so I’ve always given complete attention to my eating and sleeping habits.
You wouldn’t expect someone so fit to fall prey to any health related condition. But 2008 came as a shocker in my life. I was carrying my baby, and my hemoglobin levels dropped. The doctors thought it was because I was expecting, but a CT Scan later, I was detected with colon cancer. Something so unexpected left everyone around me shattered, but somehow I had hope. In the hands of some of the best doctors, I was very optimistic about my condition. My baby was 8 months old when I was operated upon. That was the most strenuous time for the mother in me. It was so distressing to stay away from my child. But then she became my motivating factor. It was she who gave me the most strength to combat this battle with Cancer and come out of it triumphantly.
I believe God challenges only those people who he believes are strong enough to tackle those challenges. My battle with Cancer taught me that no matter what situation you are in, once you decide to fight it, nothing can stop you from defeating it. The mind is everything, what you think, you become."
