Back in February 2025, Emerald Publishing became the first organisation to sign the declaration, set up to resist the censorship of academic research.

As we said at the time, our mission has always been to create an equitable research and publishing environment, and we remain dedicated to this mission, especially at a time when academic freedom is under threat.

Since then, we’ve:
🟢 Announced our partnership with the EveryLibrary Institute in the US to support academic librarians
🟢 Co-created a series of webinars with EveryLibrary to support the academic library community
🟢 Introduced our publisher’s note to be included in every journal we publish
🟢 Launched resources to assist and inspire you to get involved

On Global Volunteering Day 2025, Emerald India came together—not in one location, but through many small acts across cities, states, and even continents.

From school sapling drives and planter sessions with children to supporting the Greet with Trees® project in Haryana, our team showed that distance doesn’t matter when the purpose is shared.

Highlights:
• Local activities across schools, neighbourhoods & campuses
• 150 plants contributed on May 9, 2025
• Supporting the Greet with Trees® – Trees for Villagers™ initiative in Haryana
• Promoting SDGs through real-world impact
