Youth Uprisings Topple Leaders in Bangladesh, Nepal.

Two South Asian nations have been rocked by back-to-back youth-led revolts, forcing out powerful leaders within two years.

In Bangladesh, student protests against a controversial quota system swelled into mass demonstrations. A deadly crackdown killed over 1,500, but the movement only grew, driving Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to flee Dhaka in 2024.

In Nepal, Gen Z activists opposing a social media ban ignited a wider uprising against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Accusations of corruption and nepotism, amplified by the viral hashtag , fuelled unrest. After 19 protesters were killed in Kathmandu, the movement spread nationwide, compelling Oli to resign in 2025.

Both uprisings signal a generational revolt against entrenched privilege and dynastic politics across the region.....

Homes swallowed by the earth.

In Kheri village of Raipur, Jammu, dozens of houses have collapsed not due to rains, but because of nearby tunnel construction for the Delhi–Katra Ring Road. The fragile muddy hills cracked under continuous blasting, triggering massive soil erosion. Villagers say their foundations have been shaken, their lives uprooted, and yet, no relief has reached them. This is not nature’s fury, they insist, it is man-made destruction.
