India Tour Of England 2025
Second Test From 2nd July To 6th July , 2025.
Venue:- Edgbaston Birmingham . Day Three.
The second Match of Five Match Anderson Tendulkar Test series 2025 between India and England is underway at Edgbaston Birmingham. This match is being played from 2nd July to 6th July 2025. In this match England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bowl first under clear skies.
In this match India made three changes from their first test match. Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Akash Deep were included in the playing eleven whie Jasprit Bumrah, Sai Sudarshan and Shradul Thakur were rested for this match.
On Day four the match saw a dramatic turn of events with India seizing control through a combination of resilient batting and exceptional bowling and at stumps the visitors India were in a commanding position.
India in their first innings were bowled out after scoring a huge total of 587 runs in 151 overs. England in their first innngs were restricted to 407 runs in 89.3 overs and conceded huge lead of 180 runs in their first innings.
India in their second innings declared their innings at 427 runs for six wickets and gave huge target of 608 runs to England to win.
At stumps on Day four England were struggling at 72 runs for the loss of three wickets and are trailing by 536 runs.
India started the day four with their overnight score of 64 runs with KL Rahul batting on 28 runs from 38 balls and Karun Nair not out on 7 runs from 18 balls.
Both the overnight batsmen started the day with caution and added 45 runs from 80 balls for the second wicket. But Karun Nair could not last for long and was caught after scoring 26 runs from 46 balls hitting 5 fours.He was caught buy Jamie Smith of the bowling of Brydion carse.
KL Rahul continued his class and added crucial 30 runs with captain Shubman Gill from 49 balls for the third wicket and further strengthened the innings.
Meanwhile KL Rahul completed his classical half century of 55 runs from 84 balls hitting 10 fours. He was bold by Josh Tongue. India at this stage were 126 runs for 3 wickets and ensured substantial lead for India.
Then Rishabh Pant walked in and gave full support to Shubman Gill. Both batted beautifully with full conviction and slaughtered the English bowlers all over the Park.
Both completed their respective half centuries and added valuable 110 runs from 103 balls for the fourth wicket and brought back India in a commanding position.
Rishabh Pant was endlessly fascinating and scored quickfire entertaining 65 runs from 58 balls which include 8 fours and three sixes. He eventually holed out to Ben Duckett off the bowling of Shoiab Bashir.
Shubman Gill continued his classic batting display and with Ravindra Jadeja tore apart the England attack all over the park.They both batted with utmost authority and aggression and added record 175 runs from 207 balls for the fifth wicket.They not only brought India in a commanding position but frustrated the England attack and scored at will.
The highlight of the day was the affluent and aggressive batting from Shubman Gill. He continued his good work of batting and played a sparkling innings of 161 runs from 162 balls hitting 13 fours and 8 sixes. This century followed his first innings century of 269 runs.
Nitish Kumar Reddy again failed and was out after contributing only one run. He was out to part timer Joe Root caught by Zak crawley.
Then Ravidra Jadeja assaulted the England bowlers and remained not out on 69 runs from 118 balls hitting 5 fours and one six. Washighton Sundar remained not out on 12 runs from 7 balls hitting 1 four and I six.
India declared their second innings at 427 runs for six wickets.India attained the overall lead of 607 runs thus giving target of 608 runs to England to win.
For England Josh Tongue and Shoaib Bashir took two wickets each. One wicket each was taken by Brydon Carse and Joe Root.
Chasing huge target of 608 runs to win England were in dire consequences after loosing three early wickets. Indian pacers bowled very well.
Mohammed Siraj took the first wicket of Zak Crawley caught by substitute Sai Sudarshan at the score of 11 runs only.He lasted for only 7 balls and went without scoring.
Then Akash Deep removed the dangerous wicket of Ben Duckett. He made 25 runs from 15 balls and was bold by Akash Deep.
Joe Root was third wicket to fall and was bold from a beauty from Akash Deep.He contributed only 6 runs from 16 balls hitting one four. At this stage England were struggling at 50 runs for three wickets in 10.2 overs.Then Ollie Pope with Harry Brook batted cautiously and survived the day.
At stumps on day four England were 72 for 3 wickets still requiring 536 runs to win. Ollie Pope is batting on 24 runs from 44 balls hitting 3 fours and Harry Brook is not out on 15 runs from 15 balls hitting 2 fours.
At the end of day India is in a commanding position requiring 7 wickets to win.
