During college , we had so many classmates from Pithoragarh, and we wondered how this little town must look like!
And after 15 years , while going to Munsiyari, we drove all the way to Chandak and were thrilled 🤩
Chandak is approximately 8 km, accessible via a scenic uphill drive from Pithoragarh-Jhulaghat Road.
➡️Best Time to Visit is Summer (March to June): with pleasant weather with lush greenery.
Winter (December to March): you can witness snowfall and snow-covered peaks😍
➡️Some interesting places to visit:
Mostamanu Temple: A 2 km trek from Chandak, this temple dedicated to the regional deity ‘Manu’ hosts a grand fair during August, attracting numerous devotees.
Magnesite Mining Factory: Located near the valley, this factory adds an industrial touch to the otherwise natural landscape. ( although it’s ruins and has so much historical reference)
Pithoragarh Fort: Also known as ‘London Fort,’ it offers 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains and houses a museum showcasing Kumaoni artifacts.
Have you been to Pithoragarh? 🏔️
