Trump on India–US Trade: Tensions are rising between India and America over tariffs. US President Donald Trump has slapped a total of 50 percent tariffs on India. First, Trump tried to take credit for the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, then tensions over the trade deal also worsened relations between the two countries. In such a situation, today Donald Trump has again attacked India. Not only this, Trump claims that India has offered to reduce tariffs.

Trump attacks India again
On September 1, US President Donald Trump attacked India by posting on the social media platform Truth Social. He said, 'America does very little business with India but India does a lot of business with us. In other words, India sells a lot of goods to America, we are their largest customer but we sell very little goods there. This one-sided relationship has been going on for the last many decades.'

India proposed to reduce tariffs: Trump's claim
Trump further said, 'India has been imposing very high tariffs on America till now, due to which it was very difficult to sell any goods there. Not only this, India buys a large amount of oil and military weapons from Russia. India has now proposed to reduce tariffs, but now there is a lot of delay. India should have done this years ago.'

SCO summit held in China; Unity of India, China and Russia seen
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Modi attended the SCO summit held in China today. In this summit, Prime Minister Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The pictures of the meeting of the three leaders went viral all over the world. A strong message was given in this summit without mentioning America's name.

Continuous US pressure on India on the issue of Russian oil
On the other hand, America is continuously pressuring India on the issue of Russian oil. US cabinet members, Trump's advisers and White House spokesmen have been repeatedly attacking India over its purchase of oil from Russia. However, India has previously made it clear that it will not accept a double standard on oil, as China and Europe also buy oil and gas. India will buy oil from wherever it gets the best deal.
