Chowk Market Cleared After Three-Hour Anti-Encroachment Drive in Prayagraj

Prayagraj’s busy Chowk market saw a three-hour anti-encroachment operation as police and Nagar Nigam teams cleared roadside goods, carts and other obstructions from key stretches.

The action, led by ACP Kotwali Nikita Srivastava, followed complaints over congestion that had made movement difficult for both pedestrians and vehicles. Several roadside carts were seized, while shopkeepers were warned against extending merchandise onto roads and footpaths.

Food Safety Check Intensifies in Prayagraj, 13 Samples Sent for Laboratory Testing

The Food Safety and Drug Administration team carried out inspections across Prayagraj on September 8, collecting 13 food samples for laboratory testing. Samples included paneer, milk, khoya, curd, besan laddoo, peda, barfi and prepared dal.

An inspection at the Yatrik Hotel restaurant in Civil Lines also found several food-safety and hygiene shortcomings, including gaps in protective clothing, kitchen cleanliness, water testing and pest-control documentation. Officials said further action will follow after the laboratory reports are received.
