Boeing has delivered three AH-64E Apache attack helicopters to the Indian Army on July 22, marking a major step in enhancing the Army's combat capabilities.

The delivery is part of a contract to supply six Apaches to the Indian Army, which was signed in 2020. The remaining three helicopters are expected to be delivered soon.

“The state-of-the-art platforms will significantly bolster the Indian Army’s operational capabilities,” the Army stated in a post on social media.

The AH-64E Apache is regarded as one of the most advanced multi-role combat helicopters in the world and is widely used by the US Army.

Prior to this, Boeing had completed delivery of 22 Apache helicopters to the Indian Air Force under a separate agreement signed in 2015.

In 2017, India’s Defence Ministry cleared the procurement of six more Apaches — this time for the Army — at a cost of ₹4,168 crore, including associated weapons systems.

Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Sing posted on X stating, "The arrival of the first batch of Apache helicopters for the Indian Army is a significant step towards strengthening India’s defence capabilities. These advanced helicopters will enhance the Army Aviation wing’s operational effectiveness, specially in challenging terrains. A proud moment reflecting our commitment to modernising the Armed Forces. "

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on July 21 directed all affiliated schools to install high-resolution CCTV cameras with audiovisual recording capabilities across their campuses.

The cameras must be placed in key areas including classrooms, corridors, entry and exit points, staircases, libraries, laboratories, canteens, playgrounds, and other shared spaces — excluding toilets and washrooms. The footage must be stored for a minimum of 15 days and made available for official review when required.

The directive, which aligns with safety recommendations by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), highlights the need for a safe and emotionally secure learning environment. The CBSE cited the NCPCR manual, which identifies bullying and emotional harm as serious concerns alongside physical threats.

Schools must ensure regular maintenance of the surveillance systems and keep backup recordings as part of a broader safety compliance mandate. Non-compliance may affect their affiliation status.

CBSE also called for a collective effort by teachers, staff, students, and visitors to foster a vigilant and cohesive school environment.

Introduced by the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) in early 2024, Guwahati’s fleet of 256 electric green buses was expected to reduce pollution, offer comfortable rides, and provide reliable, end-to-end service. Today, approximately one lakh commuters rely on these buses daily. Yet, many find themselves stranded mid-journey — forced off without refunds or accountability.
