Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang Shares:
Today, I attended the one-day sitting of the Third Session of the Eleventh Assembly at the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, where the proceedings began with a heartfelt tribute to former Minister and MLA, Late Shri Athup Lepcha, in honour of his invaluable service and contributions to our state and its people.
Among the key agendas of the day, the most significant was the presentation of Government Resolution No. 1 of 2025, seeking the Ratification of the Final Report of the Sikkim State High-Level Committee (SSHLC) for the inclusion of the twelve left-out indigenous communities of Sikkim in the Scheduled Tribe List.
The House unanimously adopted this historic and long-awaited resolution, marking a remarkable milestone in our collective journey toward recognition and social equity. This achievement represents a deep and enduring aspiration of our people, one that has lived in the hearts of generations. Our government has remained unwavering in its dedication to this cause, ensuring that every deserving community is granted the constitutional recognition they rightfully deserve.
On this meaningful occasion, I express my sincere gratitude to Hon’ble Speaker Shri M. N. Sherpa for presiding over the session with dignity and efficiency, and to Hon’ble Deputy Speaker Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa for her valuable guidance. My appreciation extends to all Honourable Ministers and Members of the Legislative Assembly for their active and constructive participation; to the Chief Secretary, Cabinet Secretary, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Commissioners, Secretaries, senior officers, and staff for their consistent support, and to the dedicated team of the Assembly Secretariat, led by Secretary Shri Lalit Kumar Gurung, for their meticulous efforts from preparation to conclusion of the session.
I also wholeheartedly acknowledge the dedication of the police personnel, the Marshal and Deputy Marshal, and the entire security staff for maintaining peace and order within the Assembly premises. My gratitude further extends to the Information & Public Relations Department, AIR Gangtok, Doordarshan Gangtok, journalists, and the entire media fraternity for ensuring that the day’s proceedings were effectively communicated to the public.
As we step into the festive season, I extend my warm greetings and heartfelt wishes for a peaceful, prosperous, and healthy New Year 2026. May the coming days be filled with harmony, joy, and progress, and may we remain protected from hardships and natural calamities.
