Grand Finale of the Block-Level Inter-School Football Tournament 2026 Concludes with Enthusiasm and Community Spirit at Kaiyong
Rhenock, 30 July 2026: The Grand Finale of the Block-Level Inter-School Football Tournament 2026 concluded successfully with immense enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and vibrant community participation at Government Primary School, Kaiyong. The tournament was organised by Government Primary School, Kaiyong, in collaboration with Kaiyong Nav Jagaran Sangh, with the support of the Education Department, Pakyong District.
The grand closing ceremony was graced by Shri Kuber Bhandari, Chief Information Commissioner and Former President of the Sikkim Olympic Association, as the Chief Guest.
Other distinguished dignitaries present included Shri Urgen Lepcha, CA to the Hon'ble Chief Minister and Chief Patron of the Tournament; Shri Narayan Mishra, CEO, District Education Office, Pakyong; Shri Purna Yonzon, Retired Joint Secretary, PWD Department; Shri Sangay Bhutia, Retired Secretary; Shri Palden Dorjee Tamang, Member, Sikkim Private Government State University; Shri Bharat Bhandari, Commissioner, Excise Department; Shri Ananta Bhandari, Managing Director, Cooperative Department; Smt. Their gracious presence inspired the young footballers and added immense prestige to the occasion.
As a mark of appreciation, the organising committee felicitated the Chief Guest and all distinguished dignitaries with traditional tokens of honour, expressing heartfelt gratitude for their valuable presence, encouragement, and unwavering support towards the successful conduct of the tournament.
The highlight of the day was the Grand Final between Rorathang Senior Secondary School and Pakyong Junior High School. Displaying exceptional teamwork, determination, and outstanding football skills, Pakyong Junior High School emerged as the Champions with a commanding 9–1 victory over Rorathang Senior Secondary School.
Abhinay of Pakyong Junior High School delivered an extraordinary performance and was deservedly honoured with the Man of the Match, Highest Scorer, and Best Player of the Tournament awards. The finalists were presented with handsome trophies and cash prizes in recognition of their exceptional performances and sporting spirit.
The Block-Level Inter-School Football Tournament 2026 once again proved to be an excellent platform for identifying and nurturing young football talent while promoting discipline, teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, and healthy competition among students. With enthusiastic participation from schools, strong community support, and the unwavering commitment of organisers and stakeholders, the tournament concluded on a high note, celebrating youth empowerment, unity, and the enduring spirit of sports.
