Kuravilangad Church, officially called St. Mary’s Forane Church, Kuravilangad, is one of the most famous and ancient Christian pilgrimage centers in Kerala.

🏛 History & Tradition

Founded: Tradition says the church was established in AD 105 by Syrian Christians (Nazranis) who migrated to Kerala.

Legend: It’s believed that Mother Mary appeared to some children on a hill at Kuravilangad and instructed them to build a church there. This spot is where the present church stands.

The church is dedicated to Mother Mary, and locals call her “Kuravilangad Muthiamma” (Mother of Kuravilangad).

Ancient Granite Cross in front of the church, believed to be centuries old.

Golden Cross Festival (Thirunnal): Held every year from January 10–15, attracting thousands of devotees.
