250730 Goan Reporter NEWS update: Remona Evette Pereira from Mangaluru, Karnataka, entered the Golden Book of World Records by performing Bharatanatyam for 170 hours straight, breaking the previous record of 127 hours held by a 16-year-old from Maharashtra.
Her performance began on 21 July at 10 am with a prayer to Lord Ganesha, and ended on the morning of 28 July, with a ballet recital and a final tribute to Goddess Durga.
Over these seven days, she not only danced tirelessly, but also showcased immense discipline, devotion, and endurance.
Bharatanatyam is one of India’s oldest classical dance forms, originating over 2,000 years ago in Tamil Nadu. It is known for its intricate footwork, expressive storytelling, and deep spiritual roots.
— Remona began learning dance at just three years old, initially from her mother, and later under the guidance of renowned Bharatanatyam guru Shrividya Muralidhar in Mangaluru.
— She performed her Rangapravesha (formal solo debut) in 2019, and has since been training and performing tirelessly.
— She is currently a third-year Bachelor of Arts student at St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University).
