People of Corlimโ€“Dhulapi Demand Arrest of Mamlatdar

Residents of Corlimโ€“Dhulapi staged a protest outside the Mamlatdarโ€™s office, raising slogans and demanding the arrest of the Mamlatdar over his decision to appoint a priest at the Sateri Ravalnath Temple. The locals opposed the move, stating that for over 200 years, religious rituals and pooja at the temple have traditionally been performed by members of the local community, and the decision has hurt their sentiments and long-standing customs.

Honโ€™ble Minister Shri Subhash Shirodkar laid the foundation stones for multiple important development works aimed at strengthening irrigation and connectivity in the region. The projects include the construction of an open-type Bandhara at Shirdon Paz, VP Shiroda; strengthening of the existing saline bund at Amblai Aad, VP Panchwadi; and construction of an open-type Bandhara upstream of the open culvert at Amblai, VP Panchwadi.

The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by Zilla Panchayat Member Dr. Gauri Shirodkar, along with other dignitaries, local residents, and supporters.

Henry Daโ€™Costa, a youth farmer from Shiroda, expressed his sincere thanks to Honโ€™ble Minister Shri Subhash Shirodkar for the various forms of support extended to farmers, making agricultural activities easier and more efficient. He also appreciated the Minister for laying the foundation stone for the construction of the Bandh at Amblai, a project that will greatly benefit farmers and local residents by improving connectivity in the area.

Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant chaired a review meeting at Mantralaya, to assess the progress of key infrastructure works of the Government of Goa, with projects amounting to โ‚น512.91 crore, funded through Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment from the Government of India.
CM reviewed overall implementation status, utilisation of funds and timelines.
CM also directed all executing departments to expedite works, strengthen inter-departmental coordination, and ensure timely completion so that the intended benefits reach the people of Goa at the earliest.

The land conversion issue in Arambol has been cancelled by Honโ€™ble Minister Shri Vishvjit Rane. Welcoming the decision, local Panchayat member Smt. Rajni Naik Ibrampurkar expressed gratitude to Honโ€™ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Minister Vishvjit Rane, and Mandrem MLA Shri Jit Arolkar.

Meanwhile, Mandrem Panchayat Sarpanch Shri Robert Fernandes has urged the Minister to cancel land conversion proposals in the Mandrem area as well. Local activist Sandesh Sawant demanded that all land conversions across Pernem taluka be scrapped. He warned that if no concrete action is taken, villagers and activists from all villages will gather in protest on 11 January 2026 at the Bhagawati Temple, Pernem.

A parked school bus belonging to SS Angle Higher Secondary School caught fire at Canacona on Thursday. Fire tenders from the Canacona Fire Brigade promptly rushed to the spot and successfully brought the blaze under control. As the bus was parked and unoccupied at the time of the incident, no injuries were reported. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
