Chimbel villagers have launched a strong protest against the proposed Unity Mall and Prashasan Stambh project at Kadamba Plateau, stating that it threatens Toyyar Lake, a notified wetland, and the local biodiversity. Residents are demanding the project be scrapped and replaced with a Biodiversity Park for Goans. Goa Congress Vice President Sunil Kawthankar has hit back at BJP Goa’s claim of being a “4 lakh strong family” in the state. Responding to BJP’s tweet, Kawthankar pointed out that BJP secured 2.97 lakh votes in 2017 and 3.16 lakh votes in 2022, questioning the authenticity of the 4 lakh figure. He further alleged that BJP has been dependent on defectors to run the government and accused the party of adding bogus voters for what he termed as “ ” to win elections.

The Local Taxi Union of Canacona organized a rally near Canacona Municipal Council demanding a ban on GoaMiles taxis from picking up passengers in the area. The protest highlighted grievances of traditional taxi operators.
