EP DESK,Geku, May 28 2026:
ZPM of 4 Block, Katem Tateh, donated an air conditioner to the female ward of the Community Health Centre (CHC), Geku. During the donation, he stated that the facility was provided to the female ward considering the hardships faced by women, especially mothers and sisters of the villages, who work tirelessly in the fields and later manage household responsibilities. He mentioned that during seasonal changes, if they fall sick and are admitted to the hospital, the excessive heat inside the ward creates further discomfort and stress.

During the interaction, medical authorities also shared several grievances and requirements of the health centre.

The Medical Officer In-Charge (MOIC), Dr. Gamken Romin, highlighted the shortage of manpower at the hospital. He specifically requested more nurses and a permanent laboratory technician, stating that running a health centre efficiently becomes difficult without adequate staff. He also announced the introduction of a strict โ€œNo To***co and No Smoking Zoneโ€ within the medical premises. Individuals violating the rule will be fined Rs. 2000. He further urged the public not to promote or endorse to***co and smoking products within 100 meters of the hospital premises for the safety and health of everyone.

Dr. Kaling Tato also shared concerns regarding the lack of proper facilities in the post-mortem room. He stressed the need for necessary machines and equipment, as emergency cases often require bodies to be sent to distant hospitals, creating difficulties for police personnel, relatives, and medical workers alike. He further spoke about the urgent need for staff quarters, mentioning that hospital staff continue to face lodging-related problems.

Responding to the concerns raised, ZPM Katem Tateh assured the medical authorities and public that he would try his best to address the issues and provide all possible support for the betterment of the health centre.

By Eastern Post Feature Desk 27 may 2026:
Over the past decade, Pasighat โ€” the oldest town of Arunachal Pradesh โ€” has witnessed significant transformation in infrastructure, connectivity, tourism and education. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, many residents say the town is experiencing one of its most progressive phases in recent years.
Roads, drainage systems, tourism infrastructure, educational institutions and digital connectivity have improved steadily across Pasighat. Smart Town initiatives and development along the Siang River have also enhanced the townโ€™s urban landscape.
Residents say the changes are visible.
โ€œPasighat has changed a lot in recent years. Roads are better, tourists are coming and businesses are growing,โ€ said local trader Riram Jamoh.
College student Tani Yirang added, โ€œEducational infrastructure, internet connectivity and transport facilities have improved compared to before.โ€
Across Arunachal Pradesh, the Khandu government has focused on road connectivity, tourism, digital governance, healthcare and educational reforms. Major projects like the Arunachal Frontier Highway and rural connectivity initiatives are considered key development milestones.
In Pasighat, residents point to improved market access, tourism growth and urban development works as clear signs of progress.
However, alongside the developmental push, Pema Khandu has also faced political controversy. In 2026, the Supreme Court directed a preliminary CBI inquiry into allegations related to the awarding of public works contracts to firms allegedly linked to members of his family. The matter remains under legal scrutiny, and no finding of guilt has been made.
Despite the controversy, many residents believe development activities have continued uninterrupted.
โ€œPeople may have different political opinions, but development work is clearly visible,โ€ said a Pasighat-based social activist.
Another resident commented, โ€œCases will be decided legally, but on the ground people can see roads, schools and public infrastructure improving.โ€
As Pasighat continues to modernize, the town reflects the broader aspirations of Arunachal Pradesh โ€” balancing rapid development, political debate and rising public expectations.
For many residents, visible development remains the biggest measure of leadership.
