Asia Cup 2025 to Be Held in UAE from Sept 9; India-Pakistan May Face Off Thrice
The Asian Cricket Council has announced that the Asia Cup 2025 will take place in the UAE from September 9 to 28. The tournament will be played in the T20 format as preparation for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup.
Eight teams will participate — India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Hong Kong, and Oman — with a total of 19 matches scheduled.
India and Pakistan are likely to be in the same group, which could lead to three high-voltage encounters, including a potential final.
The announcement comes months after the Pahalgam t*rror a*tack, raising debates about resuming cricketing ties with Pakistan. Many users on social media have expressed concern over the decision.
ACC President and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi revealed the schedule on July 26 via social media. The UAE will be the main venue under a hybrid hosting model.
