मर्फी लॉ का खेल शुरू हो चुका था...उन्होने विदेश मंत्रालय में जाने कितनी बार कॉल किया...वहां भी किसी ने जवाब नही दिया....

भारत के रात के हमले के बाद बार्डर पर भारतीय इंफ्रेंटी ने इतने गोले मारे थे कि पाकिस्तानी पोस्ट पर सफेद झंडा लगा दिया गया था....

पाकिस्तान के तरफ इतनी बैचेनी थी वो लगातार फोन करते जा रहे थे...रात के हमले के बारह तेरह घंटे बाद यानि तीन बजे भारत की तरफ डीजीएमओ राजीव घई ने फोन उठाया...

पाकिस्तानी डीजीएमओ ने जब लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल राजीव घई को काल किया तो डीजीएमओ स्तर पर फोन उठाने का नियम ये है कि फोन उठाने वाला पहले नही बोतला...पाक डीजीएमओ काशिफ अब्दुल्ला इतने घबराहट में थे कि राजीव घई के फोन उठाते ही बोला "इतने सारे ब्रह्मोस हम पर चला कर ,अब तो आप संतुष्ट है"

हम ऑपरेशन सफेद सागर के एपिसोड 4 का यह सीन, जब स्क्वाड्रन लीडर अजय पाक सैनिकों के द्वारा पकड़े जाते हैं, और उन्हें पाक कैंप में पूछताछ के लिए लाया जाता है, कई बार देख चुके हैं. हमें अजय का बिना लाउड हुए उनको क्लीन बोल्ड करना बहुत अच्छा लगा… पाक सैनिक पाक अधिकारी के कहने पर उन्हें प्लैकार्ड दिखाता है. अपनी रिहाई के लिए अजय आहूजा को उसे देखकर कैमरे के सामने बोलना होता है.

कैमरा ऑन होता है, वो पढ़ना शुरू करते हैं-

मैं स्क्वाड्रन लीडर अजय आहूजा ये बयान अपनी मर्जी से और होशो हवास से दे रहा हूं, आज 27 मई 1999 को जब मैं... (एक पल की खामोशी और ठिठकना) फिर उन्होंने अपना पढ़ना जारी रखते हुए कहा, जब मैं भारतीय सीमा के अंदर एक नॉन ऑफेंसिव ऑपरेशन पर था तब कारगिल में घुसपैठ पाकिस्तानी आर्मी ने..

पाक अधिकारी अजय आहूजा को टोकते हुए कहते हैं- पढ़ना नहीं सिखाते उस पार?

अजय पूरे कॉन्फिडेंस और रिस्पेक्ट के संग जवाब देते हैं—सीखाते हैं न, सर, पढ़ना भी और लड़ना भी, लेकिन उसूलों के साथ.

उसी सीन में बातचीत के दौरान पाक अधिकारी अजय को प्रलोभन देने की कोशिश करता है- हम आपको लंदन शिफ्ट कर देंगे, आपको इतना कुछ मिलेगा कि न मेडल की ज़रूरत होगी न यूनिफॉर्म की

अजय यह कहकर उसको मुंह बंद कर देते हैं कि- यही तो खासियत है इस यूनिफॉर्म की, कोई राह चलता इंसान थोड़े ही खरीद कर पहन सकता है. इसके लिए अपनी जान हिंदुस्तान के नाम करनी पड़ती है.

ऑपरेशन सफेद सागर में एक्टर सिद्धार्थ ने अजय आहूजा के किरदार को बहुत ही बखूबी से निभाया है. वो बेहद कन्विंसिंग लगे और उनके चेहरे पर की सौम्य मुस्कुराहट, आवाज़ में कोमलता के साथ दृढ़ता उन्हें ऑडियंस से जोड़ती है.

He could have turned back. Instead, he chose to stay behind for a fellow pilot.

On 27 May 1999, during Operation Safed Sagar, Flight Lieutenant K. Nachiketa was forced to eject from his MiG-27 after an engine failure over the Batalik sector. Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja, flying a MiG-21, stayed in the area to locate his downed comrade and assist the rescue effort, despite the danger from enemy surface-to-air missiles.

His aircraft was hit. He ejected, but was killed after landing in hostile territory. He was later awarded the Vir Chakra posthumously.

The Kargil War is remembered for the courage of our armed forces and the victories they achieved in some of the most difficult conditions. But behind every operation were men and women who were willing to put their own lives at risk for the person flying beside them.

Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja did not leave his comrade behind. He went looking for one of his own. India remembers him. India honours him. India will never forget him.
