Reflexionar

Reflexionar Reflexionar - The magazine from Management Association, BITS Pilani
Imagine | Create | Achieve is an add-on to the existing management education.

We believe that learning is not restricted to class rooms and text books. An attempt to put forth pioneering thoughts by B schoolers and corporate professionals. Reflexionar would serve as platform for sharing knowledge and at the same time enhancing the professional management skills of the students.

''For a confused and complicated person like me it was never an easy decision to choose BITS over KJ Somaiya but in the end the longing of studying in one of the finest campuses in India took over the ‘Life in a Metro’ thing and I landed up in BITS. As far as life in BITS is concerned it’s an array of beautiful experiences for me right from riding bicycle in freezing 2 Celsius to attending Sunburn. For the future I am not sure where I will land up as I believe in taking life as it comes because in the end the ‘Dots do Connect’.''

As expressed by Mr. Expression King who can tickle the funny bones of anyone by his overly dramatic persona, our Marathi mulga who can always be found in the library. :P

"Life is about discovering your true self! Oprah Winfrey has precisely quoted-“You've got to follow your passion. You've got to figure out what it is you love - who you really are.” Four years of my graduation were all about following my passion of dance, winning competitions, organizing events, making memories and a little bit of study! Somehow I managed to become a software developer. Almost a year later, I realized I am really not meant for coding and I decided to go for MBA. I started preparing for CAT, became a part time dance teacher and also volunteered for YES+. I made the right choice. Voila! I landed in prestigious BITS Pilani! It has been a tremendously challenging year at BITS! I started writing blogs, joined the Marketing Club, participated in organizing events, fell in love with digital marketing and became a student partner for Internshala.com. I never knew I could be passionate about something else too until I came here! " :)

‘We grow professionally and intellectually but we never grow emotionally. I am fortunate enough that I am profoundly connected to BITS. It is the place which reflexively gets attached to your roots.

I describe myself as a pharmacologist by prior education, a trainer with T.I.M.E. and a travel freak. My day in BITS hovers around helping undergrads at bits in achieving their career goals, going to NSS and meetings for the start up – ‘thetripdiaries.com’.

As the event management coordinator, I witnessed several events as a manager before being one and I feel content about it that I with my batch mates made events exemplary.

The most fascinating thing that I experience and value is the diversity; 70 individuals from almost all states make the batch a mini India. This provides the conductive environment to increase thinking horizon at the same time thinking differently to brew new ideas.’

Through the words of the core member of Sponsorship Club, also famous as Mr. Calm and Composed of the batch.

"The college life has rightly been called the golden-period of one's life. And I have experienced that in my graduation too. From the day one in my Job after my B.tech, I was striving to be a student again.

Meanwhile with the philosophy that life itself is a school where continuous learning takes place, I experimented with my career path and started up my own venture… then comes a big deal, a FAILURE which not only impacted me financially but emotionally as well. As Ellen DeGeneres has said “follow your own path unless you're in the woods and you're lost”. MBA was the nearest path visible from those woods and thus I ended up here..

BITS taught me that when you start something at a young age, you should not decide 'this is it, this is my way and I will go all the way'. You can change with experience you get, that age is the age of exploration. Limit your 'always' and your 'nevers.'.. Stay hungry stay foolish."

That’s the core member of Alumni Relations Club speaking his heart out, a multitalented guy who never fails to entertain the batch with his unmatched dancing, singing and flute playing skills.

''There is so much transition that each and every one of us undergo as part of our lives. Sometimes this changes affects us personally, professionally or changes us in a way we perceive others. Whatever this change is, we tend to adapt and accept it for a cause. We are always hustling with time bound commitments. When we look back and reflect on our journey, we will find ourselves on a path that has been designed by society & of course by one selves. When I was asked to write a little about my experience over the last year, I delved deep inside to discover the unexplored facets & memories. BITS Pilani (friends, faculty, society) have all added so much value into my life, be it the rigour to achieve what I aspire for or give my fullest commitment to what I undertake.

As a student pursuing his Management degree, you never get a chance to reflect upon your actions. Time just flies by & you are always left with a feeling that you could have done more while you were here. There is never an end to what could have been accomplished in BITS. At the end of it all (in a year), I find solace in the fact that I have made new friends, gained immense knowledge and undertaken new goals that I will tirelessly work towards. ''

The views of an inquisite seeker, loved by all, hailing from Chennai, studying in Rajasthan, with a zest of grasping the most out of his surroundings and also a core member of the Media Relations Club.

For me Life and Management education both are the flip sides of the same coin. Both deal with facing varied situations and coming out as an improved person, better equipped than before. Both deal with taking decisions, making choices and developing an unfaltering attitude towards the way you approach problems.

And indeed, amongst the lush green and serene campus of BITS, thrives a dynamic ecosystem that gives you an opportunity to refine and re-define yourself in every possible way. And I am so glad I got this opportunity.

But the most valued treasures from my days in campus are the thousands of happy moments not to be wiped out in an eternity, and as one of my favorite screen artists of all times, Audrey Hepburn, once said “The most important thing is to enjoy your life—to be happy—it's all that matters.” –I truly believe this to the last word.

Through the words of the core member of Industrial Linkage Club, one of the most calm and charming girl of the batch holding a 5 year work experience with Cognizant. All the words mentioned by her, truly reflect her personality!

Unlike other posts, this post won’t be about how BITS changed people’s lives from something drastic to something totally focused and organized. This post will be about how haphazard and lazy a person I am. One of the most unfortunate (read: fortunate) thing about BITS is its Zero Attendance Policy. For someone like me, it is a boon!

My life at BITS is not about classes, notes, lectures, workshops and late night study sessions. For me life is all about lazy afternoons, sleeping, parties and yes, Friends. I would be doing injustice to all my friends and myself if I don’t give credit to my friends for what I have become.

One thing’s for sure, no matter how hard you try to screw with your life at BITS, you’ll still somehow hit the lights. So forget about your placements, internships, practice schools and grades, and try to enjoy your life here.

Lastly, I am not going to put up a photo of mine here. I’d rather have photos of friends, because without them I am not defined.

A different picture - as put by the Creative Coordinator of the batch. As much of a Sleepy Sleeperson that he is, surprisingly so, he is a go to person for every event be it major or minor to put his creative genius into action and make the event a great hit.

It happened exactly one year ago. I had been dreaming of leaving my corporate cubicle since forever. Maybe because I was truly passionate about doing something amazing and was willing to forego the comforts and perks of a normal job to follow my dreams.
These past 10 months in BITS have been really transforming, from Car to Bicycle, from Office work to evaluative, from colleagues to friends. Most importantly BITS provided me the opportunity of being a coordinator of Sponsorship club which taught me some extreme and real negotiation skills which would always help me when I step out of the college.
Now half of the MBA is over, all of us are busy in our Internships but after intermission something incredible is waiting for all of us. Hope we all succeed in our dreams that we saw before coming to BITS.

Good luck to my fellow BITSians!

A further study after graduating was not really my kind of a deal. However, destiny's call and my parents wish led me to take the decision, which ended up for me to be a part of BITS MBA programme. Now that was meant to be an excited phase of my life, where I was supposed to be with people from different states, different work experience, almost everything different. But the more I got an opportunity to interact, the more I learnt.

It’s been about only 8 months in BITS but I feel so experienced, Group 7 meetings at CP, trip to Ahmadabad and Jaisalmer, HCA connection, Birthday bash, Batchsnap, Case studies, Evaluative, back to back comprehensives, and the list continues with many more good as well as hard times.

THANKS to my dad, who always supported me by saying "it’s all fine, take a chill pill, you don't need to be a topper, just enjoy, this time will never come back in your life".

My funda of life -
"Boss jitna ghumna h ghumo, jiske sath ghumna hai ghumo, let people talk about you, you never need to destroy your happy moments because of some random people... "

From the little Dynamite of the class, miss happy go lucky and the most straighforward girl you would ever meet.
