The Executive Committee of the JSA is formed by the elected representatives of the medical, nursing and paramedical students, consisting of the Speaker, President, Vice President, General Secretary, Joint Secretary, Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries for the various committees like the Cultural, Technical, Literary & Debate, Finance, Reception, Accommodation and others, including the newly formed
Academic, Public Relations & Publicity Committees. Active all through the year, the JSA brings the campus to life by way of organising events and programmes; a welcome oasis in the tedious monotony of hectic schedules – the pinnacle of which is the ever awaited inter-college festival, “SPANDAN”. Hosted by JIPMER in the month of September every year, the week-long “SPANDAN” sees the arrival of nearly 1500 delegates from colleges all over India, proudly showcasing immense talent in the Fine Arts, Sports, Cultural & Literary areas. SPANDAN ’13 made history with a marathon to promote safe driving and prevention of Road Traffic Accidents, organised in association with the SMILE FOUNDATION, Pondicherry and the Pondicherry Traffic Police. Days of importance on the calendar, like the World Environment Day, Diabetes, Health and AIDS days, to name a few, are marked by rallies, awareness campaigns, and Blood donation programmes organised by the JSA. The JSA has a flourishing Social Service Committee that aims to help the needy and protect the environment. The annual college magazine “MONTAGE”, released by the Literary and Debate Committee, portrays ideas, opinions and thoughts of JIPMER’s faculty and students, present and past. As JIPMER burgeons into her GOLDEN JUBILEE Year, the JSA continues to work to make the year of 2014 a collage of hard work, merriment and success in every field, striving to uphold the age-old traditions and reputations of JIPMER, an Institute of National Importance.
