Rt. Rev. Dr. Selvister Ponnumuthan, Bishop of Punalur, conducted a one-day pastoral visit to St. Xavier Church, Panel Muripel, a substation of St. George Church, Maruthimoodu, on 7th , Sunday, September 2025.

Parishioners actively participated in the Eucharistic celebrations and other ceremonies held during the pastoral visit.

During his visit, the Bishop administered the Sacrament of Confirmation and took the opportunity to meet with the Parish Pastoral Council Members, leaders of the Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs), and the Catechism teachers.

The Parish Council Secretary and BEC leaders presented brief reports on the activities of the various parish ministries.
The Bishop also visited the elderly and the sick of the parish.

He visited the parish cemetery and offered prayers for the departed souls.

Rev. Fr. Sam Shine, Parish Priest; Rev. Fr. Daniel Nelson, Spiritual Father of St. Jude Shrine, Maruthimoodu; Rev. Fr. Bibin Sebastian, Assistant Parish Priest; and Rev. Fr. Justin Zechariah, Secretary to-the Bishop, along with the Sisters of the CTC Convent, Maruthimoodu, and members of the Parish Pastoral Council, worked diligently to organize the pastoral visit.

Rev. Fr. Ajayan Joseph's Priestly Ordination

Rev. Fr. Ajayan Joseph was ordained to the sacred priesthood on 30th August 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Diocese of Quilon, for the Diocese of Punalur.

The ordination was solemnly conferred by Rt. Rev. Dr. Selvister Ponnumuthan, Bishop of Punalur.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Very Rev. Fr. Martin Adlinger, along with parishioners from St. Leonhard Church, Lavanttal, where Fr. Ajayan did his Diaconate Ministry.

Priests and seminarians from the Diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt, Austria, as well as priests and religious sisters from Punalur and other dioceses, were also present.
Their presence and active participation added immense spiritual depth and solemnity to this sacred occasion.

Rev. Fr. Sujith Sebastian was ordained to the sacred priesthood on 28th August 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Cathedral, Punalur.

The ordination was solemnly conferred by Rt. Rev. Dr. Selvister Ponnumuthan, Bishop of Punalur.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Rt. Rev. Dr. Stanley Roman, Bishop Emeritus, Diocese of Quilon, Rector ,Rev. Fr. Andres Ibarra; the staff and students of Metropolitan Major Seminary, Seville, Spain; along with priests and religious sisters from various parishes across the diocese.

Their presence and active participation added to the spiritual significance and solemnity of the occasion.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Selvister Ponnumuthan, Bishop of Punalur, conducted a two-day pastoral visit to Sacred Heart Church, Kattanam, from Saturday, 23rd August 2025, to Sunday, 24th August 2025.
Parishioners attended the Eucharistic celebrations and other ceremonies held during the pastoral visit.

As part of the visit, the Bishop met with members of the Parish Pastoral Council, the Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC) leaders, and the Catechism teachers of the parish.

The Parish Council Secretary and BEC leaders presented brief reports on the activities of the various parish ministries.
The Bishop also visited the elderly and the sick of the parish.

He visited the parish cemetery and prayed for the departed souls.

Prior to the pastoral visit, Msgr. Sebastian Vaz (Vicar General) and Rev. Fr. Ajeesh Cletus (Financial Administrator) verified the church documents, registers, and accounts.
Rev. Fr. Binoy, Parish Priest, and Rev. Fr. Justin Zechariah, Secretary to the Bishop, along with the Sisters of the SRA Convent, Charumoodu, and members of the Parish Pastoral Council, worked diligently to organize the pastoral visit.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Selvister Ponnumuthan, Bishop of Punalur, blessed the renovated St. Paul Church, Naranganam, on Sunday, 24th August 2025, at 5 p.m.

Very Rev. Msgr. Sebastian Vaz, Vicar General of the Diocese, Rev. Fr. Francis P., Parish Priest, and Fathers from neighbouring parishes also concelebrated the Holy Mass.
