When it comes to the Indian team selection, Maharashtra state is nowhere close to others. Only one probable, Ruturaj Gaikwad and even he is most likely to miss out on the selection.
Gaikwad has always been a good leader for CSK, and has scored runs, but as the game changes and the T20 format demands a strike rate of 150+ from all the batters, Ruturaj is battling the adjustment along side taking on the captainship role.
He is not young anymore, he is a well-established batter who deserves every opportunity to play for the Indian team.
Where many talk about the strike rate, stability and adaptability is too very important. And perhaps Gaikwad is therefore, due to his style is compared to non-explosive batters instead of batters like Jaiswal, or Shaw, or Varma.
He takes on a back seat here, with Samson, Kohli, Gill, Kishan all ahead of him in the race, and add Abhishek Sharma in the mix, it becomes more difficult.
His absence from the team will be a disappointment but perhaps not a bad decision, however with his performances and leading the side like CSK, he may be making his case.
