A series of major developments unfolded across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, highlighting law enforcement actions, civic enforcement drives, and social controversies. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation carried out a pre-dawn demolition of five illegal religious structures in Kudalwadi as part of its anti-encroachment drive, which led to strong local reactions despite officials maintaining that the action targeted only unauthorized constructions. In Pune, a family dispute over the historic “Panchavati” bungalow linked to literary icon G. D. Madgulkar has sparked a heated debate on heritage preservation versus redevelopment. At the Pune Collector Office, a man was rescued after a fall onto a safety net, averting a major tragedy and prompting an emergency response. Meanwhile, Pune Police conducted a crackdown in Budhwar Peth, detaining five Bangladeshi women for illegal stay, as part of ongoing enforcement actions. In a separate case, a police constable was suspended for allegedly trying to influence a drug investigation, reinforcing the department’s strict anti-drug stance. These incidents collectively reflect heightened administrative activity and law enforcement vigilance across the city.

Do Deewane Shehar Mein
Netflix
Chick Flick | Romantic
3.25/5

Cast: Siddhant Chaturvedi, Mrunal Thakur

SH becomes SS in this film—and honestly, that pretty much sums up the male protagonist. Very relatable for Gujaratis, where shaving becomes ssaving, shaadi becomes ssaadi… you get the drift 😄. It’s a concept somewhat reminiscent of The King’s Speech, but placed in a light, urban rom-com setup.

The story follows Shashank (Siddhant Chaturvedi), a guy from an ultra-rich MP family working in Mumbai, and Roshni (Mrunal Thakur), who works in fashion under a slightly eccentric boss. At home, Roshni is constantly nudged towards marriage—mainly by her mother—while she continues rejecting potential matches.

Why?

Shashank has a congenital speech issue—he can’t pronounce “sha,” calling himself “Sasank” and her “Rosni.” It’s quirky, sometimes endearing, sometimes stretched. On the other hand, Roshni has her own emotional baggage, which unfolds gradually.

What works:

* The film has heart. It’s sweet, tender, and very easy to watch.
* Performances are solid—both Siddhant and Mrunal deliver sincerity. You genuinely root for them.
* Supporting cast like Viraj Ghelani adds charm in his usual effortless style. Gujjus Rock!! This role was apt for him. Hoping to see him acting more often.

What doesn’t:

* Writing. Big miss. The film had potential to go deeper but settles for safe, sometimes silly moments.
* Dialogues lack punch. A film like this thrives on sharp, memorable lines—and that’s missing.
* Songs = biggest disappointment. A romantic film without a single memorable track is a crime. You don’t need a dance number, but at least one Saiyyara-type emotional hook was needed.

Pune Police have intensified their action against illegal foreign nationals with a series of enforcement drives across the city, particularly in sensitive zones. In a recent late-night operation, Faraskhana Police Station conducted a combing raid in the Budhwar Peth red-light area between 1 am and 9 am, acting on specific intelligence inputs. The operation covered suspected locations including a building locally known as “Machis Building,” where five women were detained for allegedly residing in India without valid documents. Preliminary investigation suggests they may have entered the country illegally and were staying without proper authorization. Deputy Commissioner of Police Krushikesh Rawale stated that in the past 11 months alone, 94 Bangladeshi nationals living illegally within his jurisdiction have been detained, adding that strict action will continue against such cases in the future. Police have confirmed that further verification and legal proceedings are underway.

A tense situation unfolded at Pune Metro’s Ramwadi Metro Station on Monday after strong opposition from local rickshaw unions forced officials to cancel a proposed Rapido rickshaw stand inauguration. The event, which was expected to be attended by consultants from the metro’s MMR division including Amit Oturkar, was disrupted when a large group of rickshaw drivers objected to the arrangement. The unions alleged that the administration was attempting to enter into agreements with Rapido without valid approvals from the Regional Transport Office and raised concerns over the use of metro premises for private business operations. As tensions escalated and officials failed to provide satisfactory answers, the situation turned confrontational, forcing them to leave midway and leading to the cancellation of the program. The incident has now sparked a fresh controversy involving the metro administration, Rapido company, and local transport unions.
