Hidden Man-Made Waterfalls in Maharashtra | Chandgad Kolhapur Tourist Places | Near Belagavi City

Have you ever seen a waterfall created by a dam? 😲💦

Welcome to Kitwad Waterfalls, a fascinating seasonal monsoon waterfall in Chandgad Taluka, Kolhapur district, Maharashtra, located close to Belagavi, Karnataka.

Unlike a natural waterfall originating from a river, Kitwad Waterfall is formed when water from the Kitwad Small Dam overflows through its spillway during the monsoon. Heavy rainfall fills the reservoir, and the overflowing water transforms the landscape into a spectacular waterfall surrounded by lush green fields 🌧️🌾

The Kitwad Dam, also known as Kitwada Small Dam, was completed in 2000. It is an earthen dam constructed across a local nallah and serves irrigation and water-supply purposes.

This is a beautiful example of the fascinating connection between dams, water management, agriculture and the monsoon.

⚠️ Safety First: Kitwad's dam and waterfall area can be extremely dangerous during heavy rainfall. Fatal accidents have occurred here in the past. Never swim in the dam, enter fast-flowing water, or approach slippery waterfall edges. Stay at a safe distance and follow local safety instructions.

Shri Vaijnath Temple Near Sundi Waterfalls | Belagavi & Kolhapur Tourist Places

Discover Shri Vaijnath Temple, an ancient and beautiful Shiva temple located in Devarwadi village, Chandgad Taluka, Kolhapur district, Maharashtra 🛕🌿

Built in the traditional Hemadpanthi architectural style, the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva as Vaidyanath and Goddess Parvati as Arogya Bhavani.

One of the most fascinating features here is the beautiful, crystal-clear temple pond, where you can easily spot fish swimming 🐟💧

And here's a great travel tip — Sundi Waterfall is only about 4 KM from this temple! The temple is also approximately 16 KM from Belagavi city, making it an interesting stop for a weekend trip.

Kitwad Waterfalls to Tamraparni-Ghatprabha River Confluence | Hidden Places of Chandgad, Maharashtra

Welcome to Day 2 of my Chandgad travel journey! 🌧️🚗

Today, I explore some beautiful, lesser-known attractions around Kitwad and Chandgad in Kolhapur district, Maharashtra, near Belagavi, Karnataka.

Our journey takes us through Kitwad Village, Kitwad Small Dam Viewpoint, Kitwad Waterfalls, Kitwad New Dam, Shri Siddheshwar Swami Temple in Kudnur, and the Tamraparni-Ghatprabha River confluence.

The highlight is Kitwad Waterfall, a seasonal monsoon waterfall formed when water from the irrigation dam overflows through its spillway. The surrounding green fields and dam landscape become especially beautiful during the monsoon.

We then visit the peaceful Shri Siddheshwar Swami Temple beside a lake before heading towards the rural Tamraparni-Ghatprabha River confluence bridge

📍 Route: Kitwad → Kitwad Small Dam → Kitwad Waterfalls → Kitwad New Dam → Kudnur → Tamraparni-Ghatprabha River Confluence Bridge → Belagavi → Kolhapur

Sundi Waterfalls: Chandgad’s Hidden Monsoon Gem Near Belagavi | Kolhapur Tourism | Maharashtra

Discover Sundi Waterfall, a beautiful and lesser-known monsoon destination near Sundi village in Chandgad Taluka, Kolhapur, Maharashtra 🌧️💦

Surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful paddy fields, this hidden waterfall is just 20 KM from Belagavi, 30 KM from Chandgad, and around 110 KM from Kolhapur.

The best time to visit is July to September. You can park your vehicle near the road and take a short 5-minute walk through the paddy fields to reach the waterfall. While returning, don't forget to explore Shri Vaijnath Temple and Mahipalgad Fort!
