Commercially, he works as an interior and travel photographer, documenting new spaces, places, and cultures. His work has been featured in prestigious publications such as Vice Media’s iD magazine, Mumbai Mirror, Uncommon Studio Zines, and Ephemere in Tokyo.

Meet Raj Tambade, a dynamic mixed-media artist who uses photography to capture and critique the complexities of the contemporary world. With a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of visual narrative, Raj’s work delves into the intricacies of the current political landscape, unraveling the layers of meaning and ideology that shape our perception of reality.

Influenced by his interest in filmmaking and avant-garde cinema, Raj’s artistic practice merges the immediacy of photography with the narrative depth of film. This interdisciplinary approach results in a unique and thought-provoking body of work.

A passionate advocate for the artistic integrity of cinema, Raj intends to conceive black-and-white films as a way to critique the degradation of mainstream filmmaking. By reverting to the classic aesthetics and storytelling techniques of earlier times, he aims to highlight the need for the industry to rediscover its foundational values.

Come check out Raj Tambade’s work at ā€˜GAZE’ - An analog photography group exhibition, at Darpan Art Gallery from 30th August to 1st September.

Meet Shivam Harmalkar, a visual storyteller from Goa, uses his art to explore the complexities of human experience. Through photography and filmmaking, he weaves narratives rooted in personal history and cultural memory, focusing on themes of loss, resilience, and the unspoken connections that bind us.

Harmalkar uses the nostalgic medium of analog photography to explore the ethereal intersection of sight and scent. His work serves as a sensory elegy to the time following his grandfather’s passing, where the gazes of his grandmother and mother became a silent language of loss and resilience. Through grainy textures and evocative imagery, the work invites viewers to experience the unvoiced conversations and enduring bonds that defined those days.

Come check out Shivam Harmalkar’s work at ā€˜GAZE’ - An analog photography group exhibition, at Darpan Art Gallery from 30th August to 1st September.

Meet Vishvadeep Padavi, a talented Indian artist and educator based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, who has dedicated his career to exploring the intersection of tribal culture and contemporary art. With a BFA and MFA from the prestigious Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Art, Padavi's journey into fine art photography began during his graduate studies.

Experimenting with expired black-and-white film rolls, Padavi discovered the creative possibilities that emerged from the unpredictable reactions of the film to light. This exploration resonated deeply with his connection to his tribal roots, inspiring him to use his lens to bridge ancient wisdom and modern artistic expression.

Padavi's photographs are a powerful testament to the richness of his tribal heritage. He captures not only the people but also the essence of their lives, rituals, and vibrant colors. Through his lens, viewers glimpse the raw beauty of tribal culture and the timeless wisdom embedded within it.

Beyond his cultural focus, Padavi is passionate about merging art with modern technologies. He creates contemporary surreal artworks that blend traditional elements with innovative techniques, further showcasing his artistic versatility and commitment to pushing boundaries.

Vishvadeep Padavi stands as a beacon of artistic excellence and cultural pride, forging connections between the past and the present. His work serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving tribal legacies and the enduring beauty of human culture.

Meet Sai Charan Bade, a photographer driven by a desire to communicate visually, captures the essence of everyday life on the streets. Despite his uncertainty about achieving his vision through a camera, Sai Charan constantly visualizes his desired outcome.

His photographic process is a mix of excitement and intimidation, as his shyness can sometimes hinder him from even taking out his camera. However, his passion for photography has led him to a deeply personal exploration, focused on sharing his feelings rather than seeking external validation.

Despite his technical limitations, Sai Charan's photography is not hindered. Instead, he relies on his intuition and his unique perspective on life to guide his work. He firmly believes that a great photograph is a result of a collaboration between himself and the streets, with the environment playing a pivotal role in presenting itself to his lens.

Come check out Sai Charan Bade’s work at ā€˜GAZE’ - An analog photography group exhibition, at Darpan Art Gallery from 30th August to 1st September.

Beyond the technical aspects of photography, Anushka has also discovered the power of human connection. Her use of film has sparked intriguing conversations with strangers, broadening her horizons and enriching her experiences.
