Meet Anuj, a cinematographer based in Mumbai, uses photography as a deeply personal memoir. He finds great excitement and joy in revisiting the backup folders on his phone, where his captured moments come alive.

Anuj’s project “On the Move” reflects his personal experiences and a way to strengthen his relationships with the people around him. Through photography, he has learned to look deeper into these moments and express them visually, creating a lasting record of his life.

Mohit’s passion for analog photography stems from its humanness and the appreciation for imperfections. Through his lens, he captures the world, inviting viewers to explore the profound beauty and complexity of life.

Meet Vishvadeep Padavi, a talented Indian artist and educator based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, who has dedicated his career to exploring the intersection of tribal culture and contemporary art. With a BFA and MFA from the prestigious Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Art, Padavi's journey into fine art photography began during his graduate studies.

His photographic process is a mix of excitement and intimidation, as his shyness can sometimes hinder him from even taking out his camera. However, his passion for photography has led him to a deeply personal exploration, focused on sharing his feelings rather than seeking external validation.

Despite his technical limitations, Sai Charan's photography is not hindered. Instead, he relies on his intuition and his unique perspective on life to guide his work. Meet Rishabh Gupta, a photographer with a deep connection to Egypt, who began his journey with film photography during his time in Cairo. Living in the country for two and a half years allowed him to immerse himself in its rich culture and experience a strong sense of community among the people.

As he prepared to leave Egypt, Rishabh realized that his memories of this extraordinary place would soon become a part of the past. Driven by a desire to preserve these experiences, he turned to black-and-white film, a medium that has been used for generations to capture timeless moments.

Through his photography, Rishabh is passionate about documenting human experiences, faith, communities, and cultures. Using the age-old classic method of black and white film, he aims to present these stories in their truest form, preserving them for future generations.

Meet Uttam Ghosh, a graduate of Applied Arts from the prestigious Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Art in Bombay. Currently, he is a visual artist whose passion for photography was ignited by his father’s compact Kodak Bellow camera which laid the foundation for his future career.

While his academic training focused on studio photography and carefully curated aesthetics, Uttam’s true calling lay in reportage and documentary photography. Drawn to the stories of everyday people, he embarked on a journey of exploration, meeting strangers and documenting their lives through his lens.

Uttam’s dedication to his craft has been recognized with prestigious awards and exhibitions. He has participated in the World Photo Awards (1997) and showcased his work in the ‘Women in Public Spaces’ photography exhibition at the Goethe Institute in Hyderabad (2013). Additionally, a retrospective of his works, featuring photographs and other art forms, was presented at the Clark House Initiative gallery in Bombay in 2018.

His photography is a testament to his ability to capture the essence of human experiences and the beauty of the world around us. Through his lens, he invites viewers to connect with the stories and emotions that shape our lives.

Meet Anushka Rakhe, a Bombay-based physiotherapist who has cultivated a deep passion for photography. Her fascination with capturing everyday moments began as a child when she borrowed her father's DSLR on family vacations, slowly transitioning into using a Pentax now.

Over the years, Anushka has embraced the art of film photography, finding it to be a rewarding and contemplative experience. The limited number of 36 frames on a roll of film has taught her patience, observation, and a greater appreciation for each captured moment.

Beyond the technical aspects of photography, Anushka has also discovered the power of human connection. Her use of film has sparked intriguing conversations with strangers, broadening her horizons and enriching her experiences.

There’s a secret code to re-creating light leaks. The manual pointers are: 📸 Use older film cameras for higher chances of creating stunning light leaks. Old film cameras are more susceptible to light leaks than newer ones. 📸 Get an analog camera with interchangeable lens. Through different apertures it’s easy to recreate visually stunning light leaks. 📸 When a photo is taken, rewind your roll and open the back of your camera. Remember to do this in the flash of a second to get a light leak. An open roll might end up leading to overexposed images so, BE CAREFUL! (Warning: You might lose some photos in the process to achieve mastery) 📸 When scanning and developing, manually edit to increase contrast in your photos if you see a slight light leak. The photos come out more beautiful this way. 📸 Lastly, create blurred foregrounds that resemble light leads. Use bright objects, set your aperture to the highest! (A source of light i.e. a candle, matchstick, or lighter can be a great option) Found this helpful?
