Gurusparsh Agro Resort had been on my wishlist for about 4 months since I saw some pictures that a friend posted on social media. I finally managed to visit the place in Feb 2019 along with Sonal and P**a - our 6 year old furry baby. It is a beautiful 15 acre strawberry farm owned and managed by the Bhilare family. Large, clean cottages with jawdropping views of the valley and home cooked food are the highlights of this pet friendly farm stay.

North East India has been on my travel to-do list for over a decade. It was not a very easy part of the country to travel to due to limited options available so it always remained a dream. This year, however, everything worked out right and I managed to have a 2 week long vacation to the North East covering parts of Nagaland & Meghalaya.

This VLog is the second part of the series. This covers the Cathedral of Kohima, an amazing Sunday barbecue at Jakhama and my final thoughts about Nagaland.

This year, however, everything worked out right and I managed to have a 2 week long vacation to the North East covering parts of Nagaland & Meghalaya.

This VLog is the first of the series. This covers my journey from Pune to Dimapur to Kohima and onwards to Khonoma village and Kohima War Cemetery.

Top Tips for travel to Nagaland -
1. Roads are really bad and hence taxis can be expensive. Always use a SUV for better ride quality.
2. All non-Naga Indians need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) before entering Nagaland. Your hotel can arrange it for you or you can get one yourself at Delhi, Guwahati, Kolkata or Dimapur.
3. Niraamaya Retreats is a great place to stay near Kohima. Slightly away from the hustle bustle of the city and really comfortable.
4. Everything, including restaurants & cabs, is shut on Sundays. Don't plan to be in Nagaland on Sundays.
5. Kohima will be most crowded during the Hornbill Festival in December. If you want to avoid crowds, plan other times of the year.

A small village supported by urban folks to establish an eco friendly camp site for travelers who love adventure. Staying at this campsite directly benefits the villagers while travelers like me, can create memories to last forever.

Cherrapunjee has been famous for being the 'Wettest Place on Earth' for many years. Even now, it still has the 2nd highest average rainfall every year after Mawsynram.

However what we've witnessed is a complete opposite of this. Hot days, no rains or clouds and dry waterfalls. But that doesn't mean, you don't get to enjoy magnificent sunrises like this one!

It was called Asia's Cleanest Village back in 2003 but what is commendable is that 15 years later, the locals are still working hard to maintain that level of cleanliness.

Once you enter the village, it's very easy to notice the absence of general trash that we're so used to seeing everywhere else in the country. The entire village is green and streets are lined up with flowering plants.

If you're traveling to Meghalaya, do spend a night at one of the modest homestays at Mawlynnong.

Nagaland is very low on a typical traveler's to-do list. Most people only come here either for the Hornbill Festival or to trek to Dzukou valley.

I didn't do either but what I realised after being here for 3 days is that the biggest asset of this state are the people. Nagas are the most hospitable, friendly, generous and helpful people I've met anywhere in the country.

I am forever indebted to my friends and strangers who helped me on the trip -

, - for helping me plan and execute this trip with the smallest details. And ofcourse the best barbecue I've ever attended!

Vinod Yadav - a random stranger who I asked for directions and who ended up going with us in the car until we found the resort. He also arranged all the 'necessities' 🙂

All the drivers - who tirelessly drove us through the treacherous roads

Everyone else we met on the trip - thank you so much!

Next time you're planning a vacation, do consider Nagaland as a destination!
