🔴 Muslims Have Not Increased in Assam – They've Been Strategically Clustered
The recent statement by the Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly that “15 districts of Assam have become Muslim-majority” is misleading and only presents half the reality. Muslims haven’t significantly increased in number — rather, they’ve been deliberately clustered into selected districts through political engineering.
What’s the real game?
The BJP-led government in Assam conducted a delimitation process — the redrawing of electoral boundaries. Through this, they:
▪️ Concentrated Muslim populations into a few districts and constituencies
▪️ Minimized Muslim representation in the rest of the state
▪️ Created a political setup that enables BJP’s dominance across most regions
This isn’t a natural demographic shift — it’s political manipulation. The talk of “15 Muslim-majority districts” is not due to any population explosion, but the result of strategically designed boundaries.
This move doesn’t reflect Muslim empowerment; instead, it reveals a strategy to weaken their political voice by confining their influence to limited areas — leaving the rest of Assam open for uncontested BJP control.
In truth, the claim of Muslim-majority districts is not a population concern — it is a calculated political strategy disguised as a demographic fact.
