Pune: Illegal S*x Racket Busted At Pimple Saudagar Spa; Pimpri-Chinchwad Anti-Human Trafficking Unit Rescues Seven Women
Pune/Pimpri-Chinchwad: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) has exposed a illegal human trafficking racket allegedly operating under the guise of The Aura Thai Spa in Pimple Saudagar. During the raid, police rescued seven women, including five from northeastern states (3 from Nagaland, 1 from Mizoram, 1 from Tripura) and two from Kerala and Maharashtra.
The spa owner, Abhijit Lorance (30), a resident of Pimple Saudagar and originally from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, has been arrested. A case has been registered against him at the Sangvi Police Station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA).
The crime branch received a tip-off that prostitution was being run inside shop numbers 201 to 204 of the Rose Icon Building in Pimple Saudagar. A decoy customer was sent to verify the information, following which the police team conducted a raid and rescued the victims. Investigations revealed that the accused allegedly lured the women with money and coerced them into the illegal activity.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner Dr. Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional CP Sarang Awad, DCP Crime Dr. Shivaji Pawar and ACP Crime–1 Vishal Hire. The raid was executed by Senior Inspector Nitin Gite, PSI Bhaskar Pully, and the AHTU team.
