Pune: A 34-year-old woman, identified as Pratibha Manish Shankar, died after falling from the eighth floor of her residence in VTP Urban Life Society, Katvi, in Maval taluka of Pune district on Friday afternoon.
According to officials, the incident took place at around 1:00 PM on May 9, 2026. She suffered a severe head injury along with multiple other injuries after the fall.
Family members rushed her first to D.Y. Patil Hospital, Ambi, and later shifted her to General Hospital, Talegaon Dabhade for further treatment. She was brought to the hospital by her brother-in-law, Mayank Mahesh Shankar (35). However, after examination, doctors declared her dead at 2:41 PM.

The awareness meeting, organised by the Water Supply Department of Pune Municipal Corporation at ARV Ganga Kingston Society in Mohammadwadi, witnessed participation from more than 50 housing societies from the area.

Residents and society representatives strongly questioned why citizens are being forced to pay huge amounts for water connections despite regularly paying water tax through property tax for several years.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad area has been shaken by a shocking incident where four young children were subjected to attempted assault by a security guard. However, a courageous 10-year-old girl took action that led to the arrest of the perpetrator.
The disturbing incident came to light in an upscale housing society in Pimpri-Chinchwad city. The security guard, who was responsible for the society's safety, attempted to assault four minor girls, causing widespread anger and concern.
On Friday afternoon, when the society was relatively quiet, the accused, identified as Dinesh Choudhary, took four girls aged 10, 8, 6, and 8 to the seventh floor under the guise of showing them a water tank on the terrace. Once there, he engaged in indecent acts and attempted to mo**st the girls. He also threatened them, saying he would kill them if they told anyone about what happened.
Terrified by the threat, the girls were visibly shaken. However, the 10-year-old girl did not lose courage and told her mother about the entire ordeal as soon as she got home. The parents immediately approached the police, leading to the prompt arrest of the security guard.
