Five days. More than two dozen planetariums and a dozen Institutions! One question: what is the dome for, now?
The India Planetarium Conference 2026 wrapped up in Lucknow this week — directors, curators, technical teams and content producers from across India, together in one room for the first time in a long while.
We heard how Karnataka takes science to district schools with eleven mobile planetariums and twelve Science on Wheels units. How Ratnagiri built its programme around the state syllabus. How Vadodara kept its outreach alive while its theatre is rebuilt. How Surat has tracked sixteen years of visitors through its dome.
And one idea came up again and again, from every corner of the country: train the teacher. A show ends in half an hour. A teacher who can run a sky session keeps going for years.
Thank you to everyone who travelled to be there. This shouldn’t be the only time we meet.
