Time to Say Goodbye to Our Beautiful Houseboat ❤️

One peaceful morning in Nigeen Lake, and it was time to leave our beautiful houseboat behind.

Waking up surrounded by calm waters, mountains and the quiet beauty of Kashmir was an experience we'll cherish forever. 🏔️✨

One night was too short… but the memories will stay much longer. ❤️

A Stay in a Dal Lake Houseboat? 🫶

Our Kashmir stay gave us the chance to experience something truly special — a night on a traditional Kashmiri houseboat! ❤️

We stayed at Zaffer Houseboat, located on the western side of Nigeen Lake, a quieter and more peaceful part of the Dal Lake area. Many of the more premium houseboats are located around Nigeen, away from the busier parts of the lake.

Our beautifully decorated houseboat had everything we needed for a comfortable stay — a lavish living area, dining space, bedroom, bathroom, a small kitchen and all the essential amenities, along with beautiful traditional interiors. ✨

A caretaker stays on board to look after the guests, and our package also included breakfast and dinner.

💰 Houseboat prices can start at around ₹5,000 per room/night and can go much higher depending on the quality of the boat, facilities and season.

Our tour operator SUNWAY KASHMIR TRAVELS arranged the booking for us, and honestly, one night felt far too short! Waking up surrounded by the peaceful waters and mountains is an experience we'll always remember. 🏔️🛶

Just an Ordinary Evening in a Dal Lake Houseboat 🫶

Stepping out onto the baranda, only to find Kashmir putting on its most beautiful evening show. 🏔️🛶✨

The calm waters, fading light, surrounding mountains and slowly drifting Shikaras…
If this is an ordinary evening, we don't know what extraordinary looks like. ❤️

On our houseboat rooftop, watching Nigeen Lake slowly transform into an evening dream. ✨

The mountains quietly surrounding the lake, a few Shikaras gliding across the water, and tiny lights beginning to glow on the houseboats… 🛶🏔️🌙

No rush. No noise. Just Kashmir slowly welcoming the night.

Dal Lake Is More Than Just a Shikara Ride! 🛶🫶

We thought we were simply going for a boat ride… but Dal Lake turned out to be a world of its own! ❤️

Spread across around 22 sq. km, this incredible lake has a life of its own—floating markets, gardens, houseboats, shops, schools and even a famous floating post office!

Our tour operator SUNWAY KASHMIR TRAVELS had arranged a 2-hour Shikara ride for us. We visited Meena Bazaar, explored floating shops and even bought a beautiful Pashmina shawl from one of them.

And the best part? Our Shikarawala bhaiya wasn't just a boatman—he became our guide, showed us fascinating things around the lake and even sang beautifully for us! 🎶❤️

If you're booking a Shikara on your own, agree on the duration, route and price before boarding. Prices can vary depending on the route, season and negotiation. Current advertised rates vary, so don't blindly accept the first price you're quoted.

For us, those two hours weren't just a ride… they were an experience we'll remember for a long time. ✨

When Our Shikara Ride Turned Into a Live Concert! ❤️

We were enjoying the peaceful beauty of Dal Lake when our Shikara boat driver suddenly started singing “Yeh Laal Rang”… and honestly, we were completely awestruck! 😍

We expected a beautiful boat ride, but instead discovered a hidden singing talent right in the middle of Dal Lake. His voice, the calm water, the mountains, and the magical Kashmir surroundings made the moment unforgettable. 🎶✨

Sometimes the most beautiful travel memories aren't planned—they simply happen. ❤️
