🐝 मधमाशी पालन या व्यवसायाबद्दल आकर्षण होतेच, पण त्यातील जोखीम आणि कोकणात यश मिळण्याच्या शक्यतेबद्दल शंका होत्या. पाच दिवसांच्या या शॉर्ट टर्म प्रशिक्षणात बरेच गैरसमज दूर झाले, मूलभूत संकल्पना समजल्या, मधमाश्या प्रत्यक्ष हाताळल्या (पहिल्यांदाच डंख खाल्ला), अस्सल आणि शुद्ध मध कसे ओळखायचे हे समजले. CBRTI (Central Bee Research and Training Institute), Pune ही संस्था आवडली, प्रशिक्षक फार तळमळीने प्रशिक्षण देतात.
गावात राहताना काय करायचे हा विचार करताना या व्यवसायाबद्दल आश्वासक भविष्य दिसत आहे. मेहनत भरपूर आहे, ती कुठे नाहीये? शेवटी कोणताही उद्योग चांगला किंवा वाईट नसतो. आपल्याकडील प्राप्त परिस्थिती, उपलब्ध संसाधने व भांडवल, आपल्या क्षमता, मर्यादा, स्थानिक हवामान, भविष्यातील गरजांचा व संधींचा अंदाज, कुटुंबाची साथ अशा सर्व गोष्टींचा विचार करूनच काहीतरी निर्णय घ्यावा लागतो.

🐝 I was always curious about beekeeping as a business, but I had concerns about the risks involved and whether it could truly succeed in the Konkan region. This five-day short-term training cleared many misconceptions. I grasped the basic concepts, handled bees during practicals (and got my first sting!), and learned how to identify authentic, pure honey. I liked CBRTI (Central Bee Research and Training Institute), Pune — the trainers here are passionate about teaching.
As I reflect on what to pursue while living in the village, beekeeping now seems like a promising path. Of course, it requires hard work — but then, what doesn’t? In the end, no business is inherently good or bad. It all depends on one’s situation — the resources and capital available, our capabilities and limitations, the local environment, the forecast of future needs and opportunities, and the support of one’s family.
