*BJP Rules Out Government Formation in J&K, Says Current Dispensation May Collapse on Its Own*

Sheraz Choudhary

Jammu, June 12: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, has made a significant political statement, asserting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has no intention of either toppling the present government or participating in the formation of a new one in the Union Territory.
Speaking on the prevailing political situation, Sharma said the BJP would continue to play the role of a constructive opposition and would not engage in any attempts to destabilize the government. However, he expressed the view that the current administration may not survive for long due to its own internal challenges and shortcomings.
“Neither will we bring down the government, nor will we help form one. But the present government may collapse on its own after some time,” Sharma remarked.
The statement has triggered fresh political debate in Jammu and Kashmir, with observers viewing it as a strong indication of the BJP assessment of the stability of the ruling dispensation.
Sharma reiterated that the BJP remains focused on highlighting public issues and holding the government accountable through democratic and constitutional means rather than pursuing power through political maneuvering.
His remarks are expected to fuel speculation in political circles regarding the future of the present government, although no official response from the ruling alliance had been issued at the time of filing this report.

*Government Orders High-Level Probe into Nusrat Jahan Death at GMC Rajouri Amid Public Outcry*

*Inquiry Committee to Examine Allegations of Medical Negligence, Treatment Protocols and Accountability*

Sheraz Choudhary

Rajouri, June 12: Responding to mounting public pressure and widespread demands for a transparent investigation, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted a high-level inquiry committee to probe the death of Ms. Nusrat Jahan at Government Medical College (GMC) and Associated Hospital Rajouri.
The move comes in the wake of protests by local youth, civil society groups and residents who alleged that the patient's death may have been linked to medical negligence and called for an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to an order issued by the Health and Medical Education Department, the three-member committee has been entrusted with conducting a comprehensive inquiry into the case and submitting a detailed report to the government.
The committee comprises:
Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kalsotra, Principal, Government Medical College Udhampur – Chairperson
Prof. (Dr.) Abdul Gani, Professor, Department of Orthopaedics, Government Medical College Jammu – Member
Dr. Narinder Bhutial, Medical Superintendent, Government Gandhi Nagar Hospital Jammu – Member
Comprehensive Investigation Ordered
The committee has been directed to thoroughly examine the circumstances leading to the patient's death, scrutinize the treatment administered, review medical records and investigate allegations raised by the deceased's family.
It will also assess whether established medical protocols and clinical guidelines were followed during the course of treatment and determine if any negligence, omission or deviation from standard medical practices occurred.
Furthermore, the panel has been tasked with identifying responsibility, if any, and recommending corrective measures aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future.
Public Anger Triggers Government Action
The death of Nusrat Jahan sparked widespread concern across Rajouri, with protesters demanding justice for the bereaved family and accountability within the healthcare system. Demonstrators urged authorities to ensure that the truth behind the incident is brought to light and that those responsible, if found guilty, are held accountable.
The case has also reignited debate over healthcare services at GMC Rajouri, with citizens raising concerns about patient care, hospital management and the overall quality of medical facilities available in the district.
Focus Shifts to Inquiry Findings
While the government's decision to constitute an independent inquiry committee has been welcomed as a significant step, public attention is now focused on the outcome of the investigation. Residents and civil society groups have emphasized that transparency in the inquiry process and strict action against any wrongdoing will be crucial in restoring public confidence.
The Nusrat Jahan death case has now evolved into a broader test of accountability within the healthcare system, with many viewing the inquiry as an opportunity to address long-standing concerns and strengthen public trust in medical institutions across the region.

We Will Not Allow GMC to Become a Slaughterhouse: Massive Protest Erupts in Rajouri Over Nusrat Jahan Death Case

Youth and social activists raise slogans against HOD Gynecology, demand judicial inquiry, accountability, and transfer of long-serving doctors

Sheraz Choudhary

Rajouri, June 12: Public anger over the death of Nusrat Jahan intensified on Thursday as a large number of youth, social activists, and local residents staged a massive protest outside Government Medical College (GMC) and Associated Hospital Rajouri, demanding justice, accountability, and an independent judicial inquiry into the case.
The protest witnessed intense sloganeering, with demonstrators raising slogans such as “HOD Gynecology Hai Hai,” “Justice for Nusrat Jahan,” and “We Will Not Allow GMC to Become a Slaughterhouse.” Protesters alleged that the case has exposed serious concerns regarding the functioning of the healthcare system and accountability within the institution.
Among those who participated in the protest were social activists and community members including Nazim Mir, Abrar Choudhary, Qamar Butt, Rafaqat Ijaz, Surjeet Singh, Hassan Mirza, Feroz Khan, and a large number of local youth. The protesters expressed deep concern over what they described as alleged medical negligence and called for strict action against anyone found responsible after a fair and transparent investigation.
Addressing the gathering, several speakers stated that the death of Nusrat Jahan has shaken public confidence in the healthcare system. They argued that only a judicial inquiry conducted by an independent authority can uncover the facts and ensure justice for the bereaved family.
The protesters also demanded the transfer of doctors who, according to them, have been posted in Rajouri for more than two decades. They maintained that prolonged postings at a single station undermine transparency, accountability, and institutional integrity.
Speakers further alleged that social activists who raise concerns regarding public issues and alleged medical negligence are increasingly being targeted through police action. They emphasized that raising public concerns is a democratic right and should not be treated as an offence.
The demonstrators urged the Jammu and Kashmir administration to intervene immediately, order a judicial probe, fix responsibility, and take strict action against those found guilty. They asserted that the issue is not merely about one family’s loss but concerns the trust of the entire public in government healthcare institutions.
Warning of intensified agitation in the coming days, the protesters said they would continue their peaceful movement until justice is delivered, accountability is ensured, and meaningful reforms are introduced in the healthcare system.
The protest concluded peacefully, but participants made it clear that their struggle for justice in the Nusrat Jahan case would continue until their demands are addressed.

“Where is Jal Jeevan Mission?” Residents of Malhat Panchayat Stage Protest Over Acute Water Crisis

Murtaza Mirza Leads Demonstration Against Jal Jeevan Mission and Mechanical Department, Demands Immediate Restoration of Water Supply

Sheraz Choudhary

Rajouri: Anger among residents of Malhat Panchayat in Darhal Tehsil of Rajouri district spilled onto the streets as locals, led by social activist Murtaza Mirza, staged a protest against the alleged failure of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and the Mechanical Department to ensure regular drinking water supply. The protesters blocked traffic and raised slogans against the concerned departments, demanding immediate intervention to resolve the ongoing water crisis.
The demonstrators alleged that hundreds of families in the panchayat have been facing an acute shortage of drinking water amid soaring temperatures due to what they described as negligence, inefficiency, and lack of seriousness on the part of the authorities. They claimed that despite government assurances under the Jal Jeevan Mission to provide tap water to every household, the scheme has failed to deliver on the ground, leaving residents struggling for a basic necessity.
Addressing the gathering, social activist Murtaza Mirza said that people are being deprived of a fundamental service while the concerned departments continue to shift responsibility onto one another. He stressed that the public does not need excuses but an immediate and sustainable solution to the water shortage.
Mirza appealed to Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, to personally intervene and ensure a swift resolution of the crisis in Malhat Panchayat. Describing the Deputy Commissioner as a proactive and people-friendly officer, he expressed hope that the administration would take urgent notice of the issue.
He also warned officials of the Jal Jeevan Mission and the Mechanical Department that the water supply scheme must be made fully functional within the next one or two days and uninterrupted drinking water must be provided to the affected population. Failure to do so, he cautioned, would compel residents to intensify their agitation.
During the protest, demonstrators urged the administration to restore the water supply system without delay to alleviate the hardships being faced by the public during the intense summer heat. At the conclusion of the protest, residents warned that if their demands were not met promptly, they would launch a larger public movement in the coming days.

“Why Only the Nursing Staff?” Kotranka Erupts in Protest Demanding Transparent Probe into Nusrat Jahan Case

“Justice or Discrimination?” Public Takes to the Streets Under the Leadership of Guftar Ahmed Choudhary

“Expose Those Responsible for Medical Negligence,” Demand Protesters in Kotranka

Sheraz Choudhary

Rajouri: Public anger over the alleged medical negligence leading to the death of Nusrat Jahan spilled onto the streets of Kotranka, where hundreds of residents, led by senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Guftar Ahmed Choudhary, staged a massive protest demanding justice and a transparent investigation into the case.
The protesters alleged that efforts were being made to suppress the truth and questioned why disciplinary action had been taken only against the nursing staff while the doctors involved were allegedly being shielded from accountability.
The protest echoed with slogans such as “Justice for Nusrat Jahan,” “Punish Those Responsible for Medical Negligence,” and “No to Double Standards.” Demonstrators argued that if negligence had indeed occurred, the scope of the investigation should extend beyond the nursing staff and include a thorough review of the entire treatment process to establish the facts.
Addressing the gathering, Guftar Ahmed Choudhary said that Nusrat Jahan’s death had deeply shaken the entire region and that the bereaved family was still awaiting justice. He stated that several questions were troubling the minds of the public and that it was the responsibility of the authorities to provide clear answers.
He demanded a fair, transparent, and time-bound inquiry, insisting that anyone found guilty of negligence or misconduct should face action without fear or favour. Choudhary emphasized that justice requires equal application of the law and that no individual should receive protection based on position or status.
“If accountability is to be fixed, it must be based on facts and evidence, not by targeting weaker employees while protecting those who may bear greater responsibility,” he said.
The protesters warned that if a transparent investigation was not ensured and justice was denied to the victim’s family, the agitation would be intensified in the coming days. They urged the Jammu and Kashmir administration, the Health Department, and district authorities to take public concerns seriously, order a high-level inquiry, and make the findings public.
At the conclusion of the protest, participants vowed to continue their struggle until justice is delivered to Nusrat Jahan and pledged to raise their voice at every platform to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
