Advocate Ibrar Chowdhary, Senior AAP Leader Rajouri, Visits Flood-Hit Areas — Stands with Victims, Demands Urgent Relief and Fair Compensation

Avaz news rajouri

Rajouri, August 24 : unprecedented rains across the Pir Panjal region have triggered massive floods and landslides, wreaking havoc in Rajouri and Poonch districts. The continuous downpour has claimed lives, destroyed agricultural fields, washed away livestock, and left large sections of public infrastructure in ruins.

The Rajouri Assembly Constituency — spanning Dhangri, Thanamandi, Khawas, Kotranka, Doongi, Panchgani, Mankote, Rajouri town, and adjoining villages — remains among the worst affected. Floodwaters have submerged crops and homes, while collapsed roads and bridges have cut off entire communities. Thousands are left without food, shelter, and medical assistance.

Amid this crisis, Advocate Ibrar Chowdhary, Senior Leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajouri, toured flood-hit areas of Thanamandi Constituency to assess the devastation firsthand. He was joined by party volunteers and local leaders, including Subrat Sharma (Block Doongi General Secretary), Shaid Raza (Vice President), and Kabir Hussain. Together, they met displaced families, offered support, and pledged to amplify their concerns.

Speaking to the media, Advocate Chowdhary expressed solidarity with the victims and delivered a scathing critique of the administration’s delayed response:

“The poor, farmers, and marginalized communities are the worst sufferers. They have lost their homes, crops, and livelihoods, yet relief has not reached them. The government must immediately release financial aid, distribute free ration, establish medical camps, and set up safe shelters. Every hour of delay deepens the crisis,” he said.

Key Demands Raised by Advocate Ibrar Chowdhary:Fair Compensation for the loss of crops, livestock, homes, and property. Immediate Relief Operations with food supplies, medicines, clean water, and rehabilitation camps.Restoration of Connectivity by repairing damaged roads, bridges, and utilities.Special Relief Fund for Pir Panjal to rebuild schools, health centers, and public facilities.Long-Term Flood Control Measures, including embankments, drainage systems, and scientific landslide management.Chowdhary emphasized that temporary assurances are no solution to recurring disasters in Pir Panjal.

“The people of this region deserve transparent damage assessment, just compensation, and a permanent disaster management framework. Repeated neglect during natural calamities is unacceptable. As a representative of the people, I will continue to raise their voice until relief and rehabilitation are guaranteed,” he asserted.

Known for his dedication to social justice, Advocate Ibrar Chowdhary has long been a vocal advocate for the welfare of Pir Panjal’s marginalized and disaster-affected communities. His latest intervention underscores the urgent need for both immediate relief and sustainable solutions to protect lives and livelihoods in the region.

He assured the locals that work on the bridge will begin soon, but also appealed to residents to strictly follow weather advisories issued by the Meteorological Department to prevent further damage.

Farooq Inqlabi Urges Urgent Recruitment of 8,311 Teachers to Address J&K’s School Staff Crisis

Avaz news rajouri

Rajouri, August 24, : Senior PDP leader Mohammad Farooq Inqlabi has called upon the Jammu and Kashmir administration to immediately launch fast-track recruitment for the 8,311 vacant teaching posts across the Union Territory, warning that the acute shortage of staff is crippling the government school system.

Expressing grave concern, Inqlabi said that in several far-flung areas, entire middle schools are being run by a single teacher, which is jeopardizing the quality of education and the future of students.

According to official figures cited by him, 4,325 teaching posts are vacant in the Jammu division and 3,986 in the Kashmir division. The vacancies include 1,665 teachers/masters, 2,218 lecturers, 402 headmasters, and 40 principals in Jammu, while Kashmir faces shortfalls of 1,671 teachers/masters, 1,957 lecturers, 300 headmasters, and 58 principals.

“The shortage has created a severe academic imbalance, particularly in remote and mountainous regions where students have no access to private schools,” Inqlabi said, stressing that the government’s failure to fill the posts despite repeated appeals from communities has worsened the crisis.

He demanded that the administration advertise and fill all vacant posts through a transparent, merit-based process without further delay, underscoring that education should be treated as a right, not a privilege.

Inqlabi urged the Lieutenant Governor’s administration to make education a top policy priority, warning that “any further delay in addressing this crisis would amount to a betrayal of the aspirations of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth.”
