Soldier Dies During Operational Duty in Challenging Terrain in Rajouri; Army Pays Tributes

Srinagar, Jun 7: The Indian Army has expressed profound grief over the untimely demise of Soldier in Rajouri, who made the supreme sacrifice while undertaking operational duties in a difficult area marked by rugged terrain, steep cliffs and adverse weather conditions.

In a post on X, the White Knight Corps of Indian Army said that the General Officer Commanding (GOC) and all ranks paid heartfelt tributes to the young officer, remembering his unwavering devotion to duty, indomitable spirit and selfless service to the nation.

The Corps stated that Lieutenant Goswami laid down his life while carrying out operational responsibilities in extremely challenging conditions, reflecting the highest traditions of courage and commitment of the Indian Army.

“His unwavering devotion to duty, indomitable spirit and selfless service to the Nation will remain an enduring inspiration to all ranks,” the Corps said.

The White Knight Corps also conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and said stands in solidarity with them during this difficult time. It prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

MVD Rajouri intensifies enforcement drive on highway; challans 16 vehicles, imposes Rs 74,100 penalty

RAJOURI, JUNE 06: As part of its ongoing drive to enhance road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Rajouri today carried out a comprehensive enforcement drive on the Rajouri–Poonch National Highway under the supervision of ARTO Ashiq Rafiq Malik.

The enforcement team inspected 96 vehicles and detected several violations of the Motor Vehicles Act. A total of 16 challans were issued, while 3 vehicles were detained for grave violations. The challans are expected to generate a penalty amount of Rs 74,100.

The violations observed included driving without a valid licence, overloading, operation of vehicles without Speed Limiting Devices (SLDs), unauthorized modifications, riding without helmets, non-compliance with prescribed uniform norms, rash and negligent driving and failure to comply with lawful directions of enforcement authorities.

Speaking on the occasion, ARTO Ashiq Rafiq Malik reiterated the department’s commitment to strict enforcement of traffic laws to safeguard the lives of road users. He said regular checking drives would continue across the district to discourage traffic violations, strengthen road safety measures and foster responsible driving practices.

🚨 "The burden of inflation is breaking the backbone of the common man," protesters said while urging the government to take corrective measures.
