*Indian Army Ramps Up HADR Operations in Cloudburst-Hit Dharali Region*

Dharali : 07 August 2025

The Indian Army, in close coordination with other authorities continues to intensify Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations in the cloudburst-affected area of Dharali, near Harsil in Uttarakhand.

*Current Situation*

The region remains cut off due to multiple landslides and road breaches. Civilian and military teams are working round the clock to rescue stranded people, provide relief, and restore connectivity.

• Road Access: Severely disrupted at multiple locations – Bartwari, Linchigad, near Harsil, Gangrani, and Dharali. Repair work is underway.

•Helipad Status:
•Military helipad at Harsil is operational.
•Helipad at Nelong is operational and connected by road to Gangotri, enabling convenient movement of tourists.
•Civil helipad at Dharali remains non-functional due to a mudslide.

*Troops and Resources Deployed*
•Over 225 troops on ground, including engineers, medical teams, and rescue specialists.

•One Reeco Radar team at Tekla; another Reeco Radar being inducted for further deployment.

•Search & Rescue Dogs: deployed.

*Air Support*
•Chinook and Mi-17 helicopters are staged at Jollygrant and likely to commence induction of personnel and evacuation of civilians from today, weather permitting.

•Five civil helicopters from Sahastradhara have been operating between Matli-Bhatwari-Harsil for rescue operations in coordination with SDRF.

•An Ad-hoc Aviation Base is being set up at Matli Helipad (ITBP) to expedite induction/de-induction operations.

*Rescue and Relief*
•Civilians Rescued: 70 so far.

•Casualties: Civilians: 3
confirmed dead; over 50 missing (as per Civil Administration). Military: 1 JCO and 8 Jawans reported missing.

•Evacuations:9 Army personnel and 3 civilians evacuated by helicopter to Dehradun.

•3 critically injured civilians shifted to AIIMS Rishikesh by ambulance.

•8 civilians admitted to District Hospital, Uttarkashi.

•2 dead bodies recovered.

*ADC reviews arrangements at Police Lines venue*

RAJOURI, AUGUST 07: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Chanderparkash today conducted a detailed inspection of the Police Lines Rajouri, the venue for the Independence Day 2025 celebrations.

The ADC also chaired a comprehensive meeting with concerned departments to review the arrangements being made for the celebration.

During the inspection and meeting, ADC Chanderparkash reviewed key components such as water supply, sanitation, electricity, public address system, stage decoration, seating arrangements, media gallery, cultural performances and the participation of marching contingents.

The officers were directed to work in close coordination to ensure all arrangements are completed well in advance, and that all necessary facilities are provided for the public and participants.

The meeting was attended by ACP Sheraz Chouhan, ACD Auqil Naveed, CPO Maqsood Ahmed, Executive Engineer PDD Abdul Rasheed, Executive Engineer PHE Sudesh Sharma, DySP DAR Akshay Khajuria, Executive Officer Municipality Yusaf-ul-Umar, and other district and sectoral officers.

Plantation Drive organized in Press club Rajouri

In order to make the environment green and to spread the message about the importance of plants, special tree plantation drive was held today at the Press Club Rajouri, emphasizing the need to protect and maintain a grean clean environment. The drive was held under the supervision of President Press Club Rajouri Avinash Jasyal where Deputy Director Forest Protection Force Balwant Singh was also present.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Director stated that safeguarding the environment is everyone’s primary duty and underscored the joint initiative of the FPF and Press Club Rajouri increase green cover.
On this occasion, Press Club members also planted saplings. President Press Club Rajouri Avinash Jasyal while adressing stressed that a pure environment is essential for the wellbeing of families and society. Planting more trees and maintaining a clean environment not only ensures good health but also nurtures a positive mindset in society. He cautioned that environmental pollution is leading to several serious illnesses and urged everyone to plant more trees and take care of them.
Meanwhile Vice president Press Club Rajouri Qayoom Lone also addressed the gathering and reiterated that keeping the environment pollution-free should be a top priority and can be achieved through collective efforts in planting and nurturing trees.
During the event, members of Press Club and jawans of FPF jointly pledged to work together to keep the environment clean and green.

UPDATE ON DHARALI RESCUE OPERATIONS

As at 0600 hrs, 07 August 2025

1.​The Indian Army has significantly intensified its Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations in the cloudburst, affected region of Dharali near Harsil, Uttarakhand. Over 225 troops, including specialised engineer and medical teams, are on ground conducting rescue and relief tasks under extremely challenging conditions. Rescue efforts are being actively supported by drones for aerial reconnaissance and locating stranded individuals in inaccessible areas. Two helipads at Harsil and Nelong are operational, enabling rapid troop induction and casualty evacuation. With multiple road breaches reported at Bartwari, Linchigad, Gangrani and near Dharali, Chinook and Mi-17 helicopters are positioned at Dehradun for airlift operations, while an ad-hoc aviation base is being established at Matli Helipad. Recco radar teams, search-and-rescue dogs, and five civil helicopters operating from Sahastradhara continue to augment efforts, leading to the rescue of 70 civilians so far.
2.​Despite adverse weather and terrain, the Indian Army, in close coordination with the state administration, SDRF, ITBP and local police, remains fully committed to round-the-clock operations. Three civilian fatalities have been confirmed, over 50 remain missing, and 9 Army personnel (1 JCO and 8 OR) are feared missing following extensive damage to an Army post. Casualty evacuations to Dehradun and AIIMS Rishikesh have been executed, and eight civilians have been admitted to the District Hospital at Uttarkashi. Approximately 180–200 tourists stranded at Gangotri are being provided food, shelter and medical support by the Army and ITBP. With Lt gen Sengupta, Army Commander Central Command and GOC UB Area present at Dharali, and seamless coordination underway with HQ Central Air Command, every possible effort is being made to ensure the safe evacuation and care of all affected. The Indian Army stands firm with the people of Uttarakhand in this hour of need.

*District Rajouri under-14 football team flagged off for inter-district divisional level competition*

RAJOURI, AUGUST 6: The under-14 football team of District Rajouri was ceremoniously flagged off today by Wali Mohd, ZPEO Baljarallan, who is currently overseeing the routine functioning of the District Youth Services and Sports Office, Rajouri. The team will participate in the Inter-District Divisional Level Football Competition being held in Jammu.

The flag-off event was attended by staff members of the Youth Services and Sports Department and was marked by enthusiasm and encouragement. The initiative reflects the department’s efforts to promote sports culture and provide platforms for young talent.

Officials also used the occasion to raise awareness about the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Campaign), highlighting the importance of a healthy, drug-free lifestyle for the development of young athletes.

*Tiranga celebrations gain momentum in Rajouri under leadership of DC Abhishek Sharma*

RAJOURI, AUGUST 6: As part of the ongoing Independence Day celebrations and the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, Rajouri district witnessed a vibrant display of patriotism through a series of events organised under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma.

Tiranga-themed activities such as Rangoli-making competitions, Rakhi-making contests and Tiranga rallies were held across various educational institutions and community centres. These initiatives aimed to foster national pride and encourage active public participation.

Government Girls Higher Secondary School Thanamandi, PM SHRI Higher Secondary School Sialsui, HSS Soulki, HSS Kotranka, HSS Dhangri and several other institutions actively took part, showcasing students’ creativity and commitment to the national spirit.

Debate Competition on “The 1975 Emergency in India” Organized Under Viksit Bharat Youth Ambassador-Yuva Connect Program at BGSBU

Rajouri, August 6, 2025 – Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri, today organized a thought-provoking debate competition under the prestigious Viksit Bharat Youth Ambassador-Yuva Connect Program. The event was held at 1:00 PM in the Conference Hall of the Department of Arabic and focused on the theme “The 1975 Emergency in India.”

In his message ,Mr. Abhishek Sharma, IAS, Registrar of BGSBU, emphasized the significance of such initiatives in shaping an informed youth. He stated, “The debate activities being organized under the Viksit Bharat Youth Ambassador-Yuwa Connect Program play a crucial role in fostering democratic values, historical awareness, and critical thinking among the younger generation. The region is currently cut off from both north and south due to multiple road breaches and a collapsed bridge.

*Current Deployment & Actions*
