RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 19: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Rajouri proudly launched the Inter-District Divisional Level Under-14 Girls Kabaddi Tournament—an inspiring celebration of young athletic talent, teamwork and empowerment. With nine districts participating, the event stands as a testament to the growing strength of girls in competitive sports and the district’s commitment to nurturing future champions.

Teams from across the region arrived yesterday, bringing with them enthusiasm, discipline and a shared spirit of unity. The opening ceremony, held today, was a vibrant display of community pride and sporting excellence. District Development Commissioner Abhishek Sharma presided as Chief Guest and officially declared the tournament open.

In his address, he emphasized the transformative role of sports in shaping confident, resilient young women and encouraged all participants to compete with integrity and passion.

Station House Officer Abid Bukhari attended as Guest of Honour and delivered a motivating message that resonated deeply with the athletes. His presence underscored the importance of inclusive sports platforms and the value of perseverance, discipline and mutual respect.

The tournament is being conducted under the expert supervision of Mohd Qasim, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, whose strategic leadership and dedication have ensured smooth ex*****on. Operational coordination and on-ground support are being ably managed by Zonal Physical Education Officer, Baljarallan Wali Mohd.

Day one of the tournament witnessed spirited performances and thrilling contests. Poonch registered two impressive victories, defeating Jammu and Reasi. Host district Rajouri secured a win against Ramban, while Doda outplayed Kathua. Udhampur also emerged victorious against Samba. These early results reflect the high level of preparation and passion among the participating girls, many of whom are competing at this level for the first time.

Multifarious activities mark Day 3 of Sewa Parv in Rajouri District

RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 19: On Day 3 of the ongoing Sewa Parv, a wide range of public welfare activities were undertaken by different departments today on the direction of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma.

Degree colleges led literacy campaigns for adults and organized donation and awareness camps for blood donation, while major cleanliness drives continued in educational institutions and public areas. The Social Welfare Department facilitated registration under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) scheme, ensuring wide access for eligible women.

The Labour Department hosted awareness sessions on Jammu & Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (JKBOCWB) schemes. Common Service Centres delivered digital literacy and cyber health workshops for citizens. The Health Department enabled community registration drives under Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).

To promote financial inclusion, J&K Bank hosted camps to connect people to social security and banking services. The Department of Agriculture organized awareness programmes on farmers’ welfare schemes. The Forest Department stepped up plantation drives, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Schools and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) conducted disaster management drills, workshops on fire safety and earthquake preparedness and cleanliness campaigns, with active involvement from both staff and students.

RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 19: A 2-Day Multi-Media Exhibition on Bhartiya Nyaya Samhita-2023(BNS-23), Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, Swachhta Hi Seva-2025, Mission LiFE and other Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) organized by Central Bureau of Communication Rajouri, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India commenced today at PM Shri Government Higher Secondary School, Bajabain, Sunderbani.

The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Director, CBC, J&K and Ladakh Ghulam Abbas; Executive Magistrate (Tehsildar) Beri Pattan Zahir Rana; I/c Principal GHSS Bajabain Priya Sharma, representatives from Education Department, Police Department, Forest Department, Faculty & Students of the host school.

Expert Lectures, Cultural Programmes, Open Quiz, distribution of New India magazine and film shows were the main attractions of the day.

The Director CBC, in his address listed the centrally sponsored schemes and community welfare programmes launched for the upliftment of the poor. Elaborating further, he said pro-poor schemes like PM Awas Yojna, PM Jan Arogya Yojna, Ujwwala Yojna, PM Grib Kalyan Ann Yojna, Shishu Janani Surakha Yojna, Poshan Abhiyan, Jan Aushadhi Kendras, Khelo India, Kissan Samman Nidhi, DBT, Saubhagya Yojna, Har Ghar Jal, SBM, KCC, Stand up India, Start Up India, Kaushal Vikas, Mudra Loans, etc have brought a revolution in the country.

The Tehsildar Beri Pattan highlighted the importance of awareness programmes on the schemes and programs of Government of India to maximize the coverage, especially in the far-flung border areas like Bajabain. “It is for the first time that this kind of program is being held in Bajabain and it will surely benefit the people of the area” he added.

The Forest Block Officer spoke about the aims and objectives of Mission LiFE and enlightened the audience about National Afforestation Programme, National Mission for Green India, Forest Fire Prevention & Management Scheme, Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority under Department of Forest, Environment & Climate Change, Green India Mission, Har Gaon Haryali etc. He also administered the Mission LiFE Pledge.

Lecturer Sumit Sudan spoke about Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Scheme of Govt of India to promote engagement amongst the people of states and union territories to enhance mutual understanding and bonding among the people of diverse cultures, thereby securing stronger unity and integrity of India.

PSI Shalvi spoke on BNS-2023 and said the three new criminal laws-Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita and the Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 are an endeavour to make the criminal justice system more accessible, accountable, credible and justice driven. He explained the modifications and utility of the amendments made by the Indian Government.

Rajouri, Sept 19: A free mega medical camp and awareness drive was held at Bhathuni Ayush Arogya Mandhir, Muradpur Mandal, under the banner of Swasth Nari Sakshat Parivar Abhiyan. The initiative aimed at prioritizing women’s health while addressing general community well-being.

The camp was inaugurated by Smt. Shikha Bali, Mandal Pradhan (BJP), who praised the health department for focusing on female health and urged for more such initiatives in rural areas.

A dedicated monitoring team from the block headquarters supervised the camp, including Mrs. Priya Mahajan, BMEO, along with the RBSK medical team comprising Dr. Sumit, Dr. Fazian Mughal, Dr. Sadaf, Dr. Deepika, and Dr. Suraj Parkash.

During the camp, 93 patients were screened and treated. Services provided included hemoglobin percentage tests, blood sugar checks, and blood pressure screening. Key results reported were: 7 samples tested for Hemoglobin, 31 samples tested for Blood Sugar and 31 patients screened for Hypertension

Community leaders expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of the medical team, particularly acknowledging the leadership of Dr. Saleem Ahmed Bhatti, Block Medical Officer (Manjakote), and Mrs. Priya Mahajan. Their coordination was hailed as a cornerstone of the camp’s success.

The initiative not only delivered vital medical care but also raised awareness on the importance of early detection and regular health screenings, especially for women. The camp’s impact is expected to inspire more such health outreach programs across the region.

Rajouri, Sept 19: The Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan has now been rolled out at the village level, with eight villages from the border belt of Doongi block identified under the programme. A team comprising the Nodal Officer and Block Development Officer (BDO) Doongi visited these villages today, conducting door-to-door awareness campaigns on various government schemes.

Residents of these villages—located directly along the Line of Control (LoC)—raised pressing concerns, including the urgent need for proper roads, functional schools, a health centre, and resolution of the ongoing water crisis. The tribal communities also highlighted other hardships they continue to face, living under the constant shadow of cross-border tensions.

Locals recalled suffering heavy losses during past conflicts, most recently in Operation Sindoor, yet expressed happiness that the Aadi Karmayogi initiative has finally reached them. Rajouri, Sept 18 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajouri unit observed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday with a series of service-oriented programmes under the ongoing Seva Pakhwada initiative, combining health, hygiene, and community participation.

Celebrations began on September 17 with a nationwide blood donation camp that witnessed enthusiastic turnout across the country, including Rajouri. Dozens of volunteers donated blood, strengthening local blood banks and reinforcing BJP’s commitment to public welfare.

Continuing the momentum, a massive cleanliness drive was carried out today at Shantighat, Rajouri. The programme drew a large gathering of BJP leaders, karyakartas, and local residents. Ajay Dhill, visited Government Post Graduate College Rajouri where the NCC Unit organized the selection trials of Pre-Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2026. Cadets from GDC Rajouri, GDC Thanamandi, and GDC Budhal participated in the event, which witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of NCC cadets.

On arrival, Col. Dhill, accompanied by Adm Officer Lt. Col. Sachin Phogat, received a warm welcome from the NCC Unit of GDC Rajouri. The event began with a vibrant presentation highlighting the remarkable achievements of NCC cadets at the national level.

Cadets Sarthak Mahajan and Sunakshi Sharma, who represented the institution at RDC 2025, were felicitated with medals by the Commanding Officer. The District Statistics & Evaluation Officer Rajouri, Nodal Officer for the Aspirational Block Programme Khawas, conducted a comprehensive review meeting today in his office chamber to assess the progress of various departments under the Health Sector, Rural Development Department (RDD), Animal Husbandry, Jal Shakti, and Agriculture.

The review focused on the current status of key performance indicators under the NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Block Programme as well as the Union Territory Government's development agenda. Detailed discussions were held regarding the performance benchmarks and gaps in the sectors, with an emphasis on aligning departmental efforts with ABP objectives.

All sector officers were directed to ensure timely and accurate updation of their respective departmental indicators on the official portals. The Nodal Officer emphasized that correct data entry is critical to reflect the true status of development and progress in the current quarterly statements released by NITI Aayog and the UT Government.

The meeting witnessed active participation from sector officers of all reviewed departments, along with the Aspirational Block Fellow, who contributed valuable insights and suggestions for targeted improvements.

The Nodal Officer reiterated the importance of inter-departmental coordination and data-driven monitoring to uplift the socio-economic indicators of the Aspirational Block Khawas and bring tangible benefits to the residents of the region.

RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 18: As part of the ongoing Sewa Parv being celebrated across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir from September 17 to October 2, 2025, a series of community-centric activities were organized in Rajouri district under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma.

Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma also participated in a plantation drive held at Danidhar, Rajouri, reiterating the administration’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.

Multiple departments actively contributed by undertaking diverse initiatives aimed at welfare, awareness, and cleanliness. The Health Department set up medical camps to provide essential healthcare services to the public. The Labour Department organized awareness sessions on various welfare schemes of the Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (JKBOCWB). Extensive cleanliness drives were also carried out in school premises and public spaces, witnessing enthusiastic participation from citizens.

For the farming community, awareness programmes were held on government schemes including the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP). The Mission Yuva campaign was promoted to boost youth participation in constructive community development. Solid waste management was given focused attention through awareness campaigns on segregation and door-to-door collection.

Drug awareness programmes were conducted across educational institutions to sensitize students about the ill effects of substance abuse and promote a healthy lifestyle. Simultaneously, awareness drives were also organized on digital literacy, Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), social security schemes, and registration under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).

The initiative saw enthusiastic contributions, with a significant number of notebooks, pens, and pencils collected to benefit those in need.

The event highlighted values of compassion, empathy, and social responsibility, fostering a spirit of sharing among the youth. Officers of 5 J&K BN, NCC Poonch—including Lt. Col.
