The NSS unit of college in collaboration with department of Environmental sciences celebrated
World Environment Day with great zeal and commitment under the able guidance and supervision of
Principal Prof. Neeru Dhalla. The event aimed to create awareness among students and staff about the
importance of environmental conservation and sustainable living.
A plantation drive was organized in the college campus, during which students, faculty members,
and non-teaching staff planted saplings to promote a greener and healthier environment. The participants
actively took part in the initiative and pledged to nurture the plants for a sustainable future.
On this occasion, a pledge-taking ceremony was also conducted. All participants solemnly pledged
to protect and preserve the environment by adopting eco-friendly practices in their daily lives. Special
emphasis was laid on reducing pollution, conserving natural resources, and promoting cleanliness.
To support environmental protection, the college also reiterated its commitment to a ban on singleuse plastic. Students were encouraged to avoid plastic bags, bottles, and other disposable plastic items and
to adopt environmentally friendly alternatives.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Prof. Neeru Dhalla highlighted the significance of collective
efforts in safeguarding the environment. She urged students to become responsible citizens and ambassadors
of environmental conservation.
The celebration concluded with a message that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility
and that small individual actions can lead to significant positive changes for the planet.

Secretary Transport inspects ARTO offices in Rajouri, Poonch

Stresses transparency, efficient public service delivery

RAJOURI/POONCH, JUNE 04: Secretary, Transport Department, Avny Lavasa today conducted an extensive inspection of the Assistant Regional Transport Offices in Rajouri and Poonch to review their functioning and assess the quality of transport-related services being provided to the public.

The Secretary reviewed the disposal of online applications, grievance redress mechanisms and overall public service delivery. She emphasized the need for maintaining transparency, accountability and efficiency in functioning of the Transport Department to ensure hassle-free and citizen-friendly services.

The Secretary directed the officers and staff to ensure timely processing of applications and prompt resolution of public grievances. She underscored the importance of leveraging the digital platforms and technology-driven solutions to enhance service delivery and public convenience.

At Chingus, the Secretary also inspected the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) System and reviewed its functioning in strengthening enforcement and monitoring mechanisms.

Avny Lavasa reviewed the infrastructure and facilities available at both ARTO offices and took stock of the requirements for further strengthening their operational efficiency. She stressed the importance of adopting a citizen-centric approach and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism in service delivery.

The Secretary also held meetings with DC Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma and DC Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma, to discuss the transport-related issues and measures for improving transport services and road safety in the respective districts.

During the inspection, she interacted with the officers and staff members and encouraged them to continue working with dedication and commitment towards providing efficient, transparent and responsive services to the public.

ARTO Rajouri, Ashiq Rafiq Malik and ARTO Poonch, Mohd Nawaz, accompanied the Secretary during the inspection. They briefed her about the functioning of their respective offices, ongoing initiatives and measures being undertaken to further improve public service delivery.

*Rajouri Police Foils Bovine Smuggling Bid in Nowshera, Rescues 22 Bovine Animals; Two Vehicles Seized*

In a continued drive against illegal bovine smuggling, Police Station Nowshera conducted special naka checking at Thalka Naka and Raipur Bhatta in the Nowshera area.

During the checking, two vehicles involved in the illegal transportation of bovine animals were intercepted. On noticing the police presence, the drivers abandoned their vehicles and fled from the spot.Total of 22 bovine animals were rescued from the two vehicles. The animals were found tied in a cruel and inhumane manner and were being transported without the requisite permission.

In this connection, FIR No. 101/2026 and FIR No. 102/2026 have been registered at Police Station Nowshera under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the accused persons involved in the smuggling attempt.Rajouri Police remains committed to taking stringent action against individuals involved in illegal bovine smuggling.

RAJOURI, JUNE 03: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma, today convened a Public Outreach Camp at Vibrant Village Chappar Dhara in Block Panjgrain to assess developmental requirements, address public grievances and review the implementation of government welfare schemes.

Among others present were ADDC Malik Zada Sheraz-ul-Haq, PO ICDS Harpal Singh, CPO Maqsood Ahmed, ACR Mohd Jahangir Khan, ACD Auqil Nuvaid, CAO Rajesh Verma, ARTO Ashiq Rafiq Malik, DSWO Abdul Raheem, ALC Pradyot Gupta, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Sudesh Kumar, Executive Engineer PMGSY Shahid Mustafa and other district and sectoral officers.

During the interaction, locals projected various demands and concerns related to infrastructure and public services. The Deputy Commissioner patiently listened to the grievances and assured the public that all genuine issues would be examined and addressed in a phased manner.

Officers from different departments, including Health, PMGSY, PWD, Jal Shakti, Power Development Department, District Employment and Counselling Centre and Labour Department briefed the public about ongoing developmental works and welfare schemes and encouraged eligible beneficiaries to avail themselves of government benefits.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the Public Works Department to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for tiled internal pathways in the village and explore suitable fencing and gondola-type interventions keeping in view the difficult terrain of the area.

Emphasizing inclusive development, he instructed all departments to ensure 100 percent coverage of eligible beneficiaries under welfare schemes and work towards saturation of the village under all flagship programmes.

The Deputy Commissioner informed the gathering that eight villages in Rajouri district have been identified under the Vibrant Villages Programme. He stated that focused interventions are being undertaken to improve road connectivity, power connectivity, internet connectivity and television connectivity to strengthen infrastructure and improve access to essential services in these border villages.

Highlighting the importance of a drug-free society, the Deputy Commissioner also sensitized the public about the ongoing 100-Day “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir” Campaign launched by the Lieutenant Governor.

He informed the gathering about the facilities available at the Drug De-addiction Centre and the 15-bedded de-addiction facility at Government Medical College Rajouri, where treatment, counselling, rehabilitation and support services are being provided. He urged parents, community leaders and youth to actively support the campaign and help eradicate drug abuse from society.

A pledge was also administered under the “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir” Campaign, reaffirming the collective commitment towards building a drug-free district.

On the occasion, a mass awareness programme was conducted on social security schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY). The participants were encouraged to enroll under these schemes to ensure financial security and social protection.

The public appreciated the district administration for reaching out to the remote village and addressing their concerns at their doorstep.

RAJOURI, JUNE 03: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, today visited Government Higher Secondary School Dehri Ralyote, located near the Line of Control (LoC), to inspect the educational infrastructure and assess the requirements for further development of the institution.

During the visit, the *Deputy Commissioner inspected the healthcare laboratory, classrooms, library, ICT laboratory and examination hall. He reviewed the facilities available to students and interacted with the school staff regarding academic and infrastructural requirements.*

The *DC directed the Executive Engineer concerned to visit the institution and prepare proposals for addressing the developmental needs of the school. He also instructed the concerned authorities to take up the development of the children's park and volleyball court through convergence with MGNREGA to provide better recreational and sports facilities to the students.*

*To facilitate the construction of a boundary wall around the school premises, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Naib Tehsildar to undertake demarcation of the school land at the earliest.*

*Appreciating the efforts of the teaching staff, Abhishek Sharma commended their dedication towards imparting quality education in a border area and urged them to continue working with commitment so that students from remote and border villages receive the maximum educational benefits and opportunities.*

RAJOURI, JUNE 02: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma, today chaired a Sub-Division-wise review meeting to assess the implementation status of 18 major Central Government flagship schemes in the district.

The meeting reviewed the progress achieved under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM), Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Atal Pension Yojana, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, HADP/JKCIP, Jal Jeevan Mission, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban and Gramin), PM Vishwakarma, Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin and Urban) and VB-G RAM-G.

Taking a detailed review of the implementation of schemes subdivision-wise, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to ensure 100 percent saturation of targets and timely delivery of benefits to all eligible beneficiaries. He emphasized the need to identify and address field-level bottlenecks on priority to improve implementation and expand coverage.

Highlighting the transformative impact of these flagship schemes on socio-economic development, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of maximizing outreach and ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is left out. He also directed officers to intensify efforts under social security schemes and increase enrolment of eligible citizens.

Reviewing the progress under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) scheme, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned departments to organize dedicated awareness and registration camps for covering left-out beneficiaries. He further directed officers to fix subdivision-wise targets, undertake regular monitoring and ensure effective implementation at the grassroots level.

The DC underscored the importance of close inter-departmental coordination, continuous monitoring and proactive field engagement for achieving the desired outcomes under all schemes.

Continuing its sustained drive against the illegal transportation and smuggling of bovine animals, Rajouri Police successfully foiled multiple such attempts in Thanamandi and Chingus areas and rescued 14 bovine animals.

During naka checking at Thanamandi *Police Station Thanamandi* intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK11H-5485 and JK11F-6223. During search both vehicles were found transporting bovine animals without valid permission. Total 09 bovine animals were rescued. In this regard a Case FIR No. 61/2026 and Case FIR No. 62/2026 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of PCA Act were registered at Police Station Thanamandi and investigation is underway.

In another incident, *Police Party of Police Post Chingus* laid a special naka at Nagoon and during checking noticed an unknown person transporting 05 bovine animals on foot from Store Keri towards Kashmir for smuggling purposes without valid permission. On spotting the police party the accused fled from the spot abandoning the animals. Police party rescued all five bovine animals.

In this regard Case FIR No. 282/2026 under relevant sections has been registered at Police Station Rajouri and investigation is underway.

Rajouri Police reiterates its firm commitment to curb illegal transportation and smuggling of bovine animals and shall continue taking strict legal action against those involved in such unlawful activities.

Asian Junior Boxing Champion Yasser honoured at GBMHSS Rajouri

RAJOURI, JUNE 01: Government Boys Model Higher Secondary School (GBMHSS) Rajouri on Monday accorded a grand and heroic welcome to its star student Mohd Yasser, who brought immense pride to the nation, Jammu & Kashmir and Rajouri by clinching the Asian Junior Boxing Championship 2026.

*DC launches House Enumeration in Rajouri; Flags off awareness rally*

RAJOURI, JUNE 01: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today formally launched the House Enumeration Phase of Census 2027 here from Dak Bungalow, marking the commencement of the door-to-door survey across the district.

Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner flagged off an awareness rally aimed at sensitizing citizens about the significance of the Census and encouraging their active participation in the nationwide exercise.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Ravi Kumar Sihag and District Statistical & Evaluation Officer Sandeep Sharma were also present at the event.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner informed that around 62,000 residents of Rajouri district successfully completed self-enumeration from May 17 to May 31, 2026. He appreciated the enthusiastic response of the public and termed it a positive indicator of growing awareness and trust in the digital census process.

“From today (June 1) trained enumerators have started visiting households across the district to undertake the field enumeration exercise. The survey will ensure comprehensive coverage of the entire population through a systematic village-wise and ward-wise approach,” he said.

Highlighting the importance of the Census, the Deputy Commissioner said that accurate population data forms the foundation for evidence-based planning, policy formulation and effective delivery of the public services. He urged residents to provide correct and complete information to the enumerators for ensuring the success of the exercise.

The Deputy Commissioner further informed that Census 2027 is being conducted through digital platforms, which will enhance accuracy, transparency and efficiency in data collection and processing.

“Special emphasis is being laid on ensuring the enumeration of nomadic and migratory populations. In this regard, a detailed action plan has been devised in coordination with the Forest Department, Sheep Husbandry Department and other concerned agencies. Chowkidars, enumerators and field functionaries have been imparted necessary training to facilitate smooth coverage of these communities,” he informed.

He added that specialized teams have been deployed along migration routes and seasonal habitation areas to ensure that no eligible individual is left out of the Census process.
