Lieutenant Beereshwar Goswami of the Indian Army lost his life during an anti-terrxr operation in the Rajouri sector of Jammu & Kashmir. The young officer was part of an ongoing counter-terrxr mission when he reportedly fell into a deep gorge while operating in the region’s challenging mountainous terrain.
The incident occurred during Operation Sherawali, a counter-terrxr operation being conducted in the area. Lt. Goswami was moving along a narrow ridge when he lost his footing and fell into the gorge. Rescue teams were immediately deployed and efforts were made to evacuate him and provide medical assistance. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
The operation was being carried out in a difficult and rugged area known for its steep slopes and dense forest cover, which often pose significant challenges to security forces conducting counter-terrxr missions.
The Indian Army paid tribute to the fallen officer, honouring his dedication, courage and commitment to duty. Senior military officials and fellow soldiers expressed their condolences, remembering Lt. Goswami’s service to the nation.
