*Robbery case solved within hours by Police Station Satwari,Jammu.*

Demonstrating swift and strategic action, Police Station Satwari,Jammu successfully solved an armed robbery case within just 12 hours of the incident, apprehending the accused and subsequently recovering the costly looted items.

On 14th July 2025, Rajeev Khajuria, s/o Om Parkash Khajuria, R/o Babliana, Gangyal Jammu, reported that while passing near Raina Colony, Babliana, he was stopped by an unidentified assailant. The accused, wearing a face mask and brandishing a Tokka (sharp-edged weapon), forcefully robbed him of a gold chain weighing approx. 5 grams, a silver ring, and ₹550 in cash before fleeing the scene.

Acting with promptness and precision, the police registered a case under Section 309(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 4/25 of the Arms Act. A dedicated investigative team was promptly constituted under the leadership of Inspector Jai Paul Singh (SHO, PS Satwari) and PSI Aadarsh Thakur. The investigation was carried out under the close supervision of SDPO City South Sh. Sunil Singh Jasrotia and SP City South Jammu.

Relying on CCTV surveillance and technical tracking, the team swiftly identified and apprehended the accused—*Paramjeet Singh alias Pammi, s/o Teja Singh, R/o Upper Gadigarh, Babliana,Jammu*—on the same day. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the robbery, and the stolen chain, ring, and cash—collectively worth around ₹5 lakh—were recovered from his possession.

Further investigations revealed that Paramjeet Singh is a habitual offender with a known criminal history within the jurisdiction of PS Satwari. Authorities are now probing his involvement in other similar criminal activities across the region.

The rapid and effective police response has been widely appreciated by the public, who lauded the efforts of the Satwari police in delivering swift justice and restoring public confidence.

Jammu Police remains vigilant and committed to ensure public safety and curb all the Criminal/unlawful activities.

Commemoration of Brig Mohammad Usman’s 113th Birth Anniversary at Usman Memorial, Jhangar, Nowshera

The 113th birth anniversary of Brigadier Mohammad Usman, MVC — famously known as the “Lion of Nowshera” — was commemorated with great reverence and patriotic fervour at Usman Memorial and Community Learning Centre, Jhangar (Nowshera). The event was jointly organised by the District Administration, Rajouri and the Indian Army.

The program commenced with the screening of a documentary highlighting the heroic life, leadership, and supreme sacrifice of Brig Usman, who laid down his life while valiantly defending Nowshera during the Indo-Pak War of 1947-48.

Local school students added patriotic spirit to the occasion with stirring performances. DC Rajouri delivered a heartfelt address, underlining Brig Usman’s unmatched courage and his enduring legacy as a symbol of unity and bravery.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, civil dignitaries, and Army personnel, reflecting the deep respect and pride the region holds for its war hero.

The event, jointly organised by the Indian Army and Civil Administration such as J&K Forest department, Department of Rural development and Panchayat, ICDS Project, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Department showcased seamless synergy and coordination between the two institutions.

The commemoration was a fitting tribute to Brig Usman’s indomitable spirit and a reminder of the sacrifices made for the sovereignty of the nation.

APS Damana Hosts Prestigious and Spirited Inter-APSs Cluster-I

“Debate is the art of listening with an open mind and speaking with purpose — where words become the instruments of change.”

Army Public School Damana proudly hosted the Inter-APSs Cluster-I Hindi Debate Competition for students of Classes IX to XII on 15 July 2025 in the AV Room of the school. The event brought together intellect and eloquence as young debaters from eight prestigious Army Public Schools under Western Command Cluster-I showcased their oratory and critical thinking skills in the Hindi language.
The occasion was graced by Brigadier Kumar Anand, Chairman, APS Damana, as the Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed by Mrs. Pushpinder Kaur, Principal, APS Damana, along with Mrs. Shallu Kapoor, Vice Principal, faculty members of the Hindi Department, es**rt teachers and participants from various schools. The event was honoured by the benign presence of Lt Colonel RS Slathia, SO School. The event also witnessed the gracious presence of Major Prarabdh Bhadoriya as one of the Jury members.
The competition was adjudged by an esteemed panel of academicians comprising Dr. Bhagwati Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, University of Jammu; Dr. Raj Jamwal, Assistant Professor, Government Degree College, R.S. Pura; and Mr. Davinder Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, Government Degree College, Basohli. Their expertise and impartial assessment ensured the high standards of the debate.
The eight participating schools included APS Jammu Cantt, APS Ratnuchak, APS Kaluchak, APS BD Bari, APS Samba, APS Miran Sahib, APS Sunjwan and APS Damana. The event witnessed intense and thought-provoking debates as students vied for a place in the upcoming Command Level Competition.
In a closely contested event, APS Damana emerged victorious and was awarded the Winning Trophy, while APS Ratnuchak secured the Runners-Up Trophy. A***n Sharma of Class XII, representing APS Ratnuchak, was awarded the Best Speaker for his persuasive and well-structured arguments. Akshat Singh of Class XI from APS Damana stood out with his sharp and timely interjections and was adjudged the Best Interjector of the debate competition.
The Chief Guest felicitated the winners by presenting them with trophies and certificates, applauding their exemplary performance and spirited participation. The jury members were also honored with mementos and certificates as a token of appreciation for their valuable time, expertise and fair judgment, which contributed greatly to the success of the event. In his address to the gathering, Brigadier Kumar Anand commended the participants for their eloquence, confidence and in-depth understanding of the topic. He emphasized the importance of debates in nurturing critical thinking, clarity of thought and respectful dialogue among youth.
In her address, Mrs. Pushpinder Kaur, Principal of the school, expressed her pride in hosting such a significant event and praised the participants for their confidence, clarity of thoughtand command over the Hindi language. She also appreciated the efforts of the Hindi Department and thanked the judges for their valuable presence and unbiased assessment.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks presented by Ridit Singh (Class VII) and Siya Choudhary (Class X), leaving the audience inspired and proud. The competition not only fostered a spirit of healthy rivalry but also celebrated the richness of the Hindi language and the power of persuasive expression. The event ended on a patriotic note with the recitation of the National Anthem, followed by light refreshment for all the attendees.

"From the Valleys to the Summit: J&K Cadets Script History on Mt Everest"

In a moment of pride and glory for the nation, cadets from the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (JK&L) Directorate scaled new heights – literally – as they conquered the world’s highest peak during the NCC Mt Everest Expedition 2025.

On 18 May 2025, Junior Under Officer Abida Afreen and Cadet Mohit Knathia, representing the JK&L Directorate, stood triumphantly atop Mount Everest (8,848.86 m). Their courageous ascent marked a landmark achievement for the NCC and showcased the indomitable spirit of the youth from the Union Territory.

To commemorate this historic feat, a memento was presented on behalf of Maj Gen Anupinder Bevli, VSM, ADG NCC JK&L Directorate, to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Omar Abdullah, by Group Commander NCC Srinagar on 14 July 2025.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to the cadets and applauded their bravery and determination. “Their extraordinary achievement is a shining example of what our youth are capable of. This summit is not just a personal triumph but a symbol of the limitless potential of J&K’s young generation,” he stated. He further added that the success would serve as an inspiration for thousands of NCC cadets and youth across the country.

During the meeting, key matters concerning the growth and strengthening of NCC infrastructure and youth engagement in the region were also deliberated upon.

This landmark summit underscores the NCC’s mission to instill discipline, leadership, and a spirit of adventure among India’s youth, especially in challenging terrains like Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
