*Doda Police Nabs Drug Peddler, Seized approx. 317 Grams of Charas During Special Naka at Khellani Doda*

Doda, June 05, 2026:

As part of the enhanced security arrangements put in place in view of the VVIP visit and the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan aimed at eliminating the menace of drug abuse and trafficking, Doda Police achieved a significant success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering a substantial quantity of contraband substance from his possession.

During a special naka established at Khellani, a naka party of Police Post Khellani led by IC PP Khellani, under the leadership of SHO Police Station Doda and DySP Headquarters Doda, intercepted a suspicious individual for checking. During the search, approximately 317 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed S/o Mohd Shafi R/o Mothi, Goha, Doda.

Accordingly, FIR No. 148/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Doda and investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source, supply chain and intended destination of the recovered contraband.

The action forms part of the sustained efforts being undertaken by Doda Police under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan to curb drug trafficking and safeguard the youth from the scourge of narcotics.

Doda Police reiterates its firm commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse. The public is urged to actively support the police by sharing information regarding drug-related activities so that the menace of narcotics can be effectively eradicated from society.

किश्तवाड़ की विधायक Shagun Parihar ने सरथल के चंदाली गाहन गांव का दौरा कर हाल ही में बादल फटने से हुए नुकसान का जायजा लिया। इस दौरान उन्होंने प्रभावित परिवारों से मुलाकात की और उनकी समस्याएं सुनीं।
बादल फटने से कई घरों और खेतों को नुकसान पहुंचा है। हालांकि, इस घटना में किसी के हताहत होने की खबर नहीं है। स्थानीय लोगों ने विधायक को बताया कि फसलों और कृषि भूमि को भारी नुकसान हुआ है, जिससे उनकी रोजी-रोटी प्रभावित हुई है।
शगुन परिहार ने प्रभावित लोगों को भरोसा दिलाया कि सरकार हर मुश्किल घड़ी में उनके साथ है। उन्होंने अधिकारियों को नुकसान का जल्द से जल्द सर्वे करने और प्रभावित परिवारों को राहत पहुंचाने के निर्देश दिए।
विधायक ने कहा कि जिन लोगों को नुकसान हुआ है, उन्हें सरकारी नियमों के अनुसार हर संभव सहायता दिलाई जाएगी। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि वह खुद राहत और पुनर्वास कार्यों पर नजर रखेंगी ताकि प्रभावित लोगों को समय पर मदद मिल सके।
उन्होंने प्रशासन से कहा कि राहत कार्यों में तेजी लाई जाए और भविष्य में ऐसी घटनाओं से निपटने के लिए जरूरी इंतजाम भी मजबूत किए जाएं। विधायक ने प्रभावित परिवारों के प्रति संवेदना जताते हुए उन्हें हर संभव सहयोग का भरोसा दिलाया।

A Medical Eye Camp was organized today at Convent School, Batote. The camp was facilitated through the efforts of Mr. Shahrukh Bhatti, Councillor, Municipal Committee (MC), Batote.

84 Bn CRPF Celebrates 41st Raising Day at Chanderkote, Ramban

RAMBAN, June 01: Central Reserve Police Force’s 84 Battalion celebrated its 41st Raising Day with great enthusiasm and pride at Tactical Headquarters, Chanderkote, Ramban, today.

Raised on June 1, 1985, at Group Centre CRPF, New Delhi, the Battalion has rendered distinguished and selfless service to the Nation across various operational theatres, including Jammu & Kashmir, the North Eastern States, and Punjab, where it played a significant role in counter-insurgency and anti-militancy operations.

Since 2010, the Battalion has been deployed in Jammu & Kashmir and is entrusted with the crucial responsibility of securing National Highway-44, the lifeline of the Kashmir Valley, over a stretch of nearly 47 kilometres in District Ramban.

The Raising Day celebrations commenced at the Sarv Dharm Prarthana Sthal, where officers and personnel prayed for peace, prosperity, and success in the year ahead. The Battalion also paid homage to its brave martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the Nation. A ceremonial flag hoisting was conducted at the Quarter Guard, followed by a Guard of Honour presented to Commandant 84 Bn CRPF, N Ranbir Singh.

Addressing the troops during a Sainik Sammelan, the Commandant extended greetings and best wishes to all ranks and their families on the occasion. He highlighted the glorious history and achievements of the Force and the Battalion, and urged personnel to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, dedication, discipline, and patriotism.

As part of the celebrations and in support of environmental conservation, Battalion personnel planted 100 saplings in and around the campus, reaffirming their commitment towards a greener and sustainable future.

A colourful mela was also organised during the day, featuring food stalls established by various Companies of the Battalion. The stalls showcased cuisines from different regions of the country, reflecting the spirit of unity in diversity. Recreational and entertaining games added to the festive atmosphere and were enjoyed by personnel and their families.

In the run-up to the Raising Day, several competitions, including Physical Endurance Tests, Weapon Handling, Firing, Badminton, Volleyball, Pickleball, and Tug of War, were organised with enthusiastic participation from Unit personnel.

On the occasion, personnel of 84 Bn CRPF who displayed exceptional dedication and outstanding performance during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025 and were awarded the Director General CRPF Commendation Disc and Certificates were also felicitated. The commendation discs were formally presented by Commandant N Ranbir Singh in recognition of their exemplary service and devotion to duty.

The celebrations concluded with a grand cultural evening where Battalion personnel showcased their talents through various performances. Trophies, medals, certificates, and prizes were distributed among winners and runners-up of the competitions organised during the Raising Day celebrations. A Bada Khana was also arranged and attended by personnel along with their family members, adding warmth and camaraderie to the occasion.

The event reflected the Battalion’s rich legacy, operational excellence, esprit de corps, and unwavering commitment towards the service of the Nation.

*Two killed as truck plunges into gorge, catches fire near Gangroo in Ramsoo on NH 44*

Banihal, May 30: Two persons were killed after a truck carrying limestone plunged into a deep gorge and caught fire near Gangroo in the Ramsoo area of Ramban district on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway during the early hours of Saturday, officials said.

According to police, the truck bearing registration number JK16A/ 0693 was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle near Gangroo. The truck veered off the road, plunged into a deep gorge and immediately caught fire.

Soon after receiving information about the incident, police personnel from police station Ramsoo, volunteers of the Himalayan Quick Response Team (QRT) Ramsoo, CRPF personnel and Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.

Officials said the truck was engulfed in flames when rescuers reached the scene. During the search and rescue operation, the bodies of the driver and conductor were recovered from the burnt cabin of the vehicle. Both had died in the incident, and their bodies were found in a partially charred condition.

The identities of the deceased were not immediately known, and efforts were underway to establish their identity. Police have taken cognizance of the incident, and further investigation is in progress.

Doda, May 27, 2026:

Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, Doda Police achieved another success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering approximately 6.92 grams of he**in (chitta) like substance near Ganpat Bridge Doda under the leadership of SHO Police Station Doda.

Acting on reliable prior information regarding a person travelling from Jammu towards Bhaderwah carrying narcotic substance, a naka was laid near Ganpat Bridge Doda. During checking, one person appeared suspicious and attempted to flee from the spot; however, he was swiftly apprehended by the alert police party.

On questioning, the accused disclosed his identity as Mohd. Asif Bhatt S/o Mohd. Alyas Bhatt R/o Sarna Bhaderwah. During his personal search, approximately 6.92 grams of he**in (chitta) like narcotic substance was recovered from his possession.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was allegedly carrying the contraband substance for selling purposes.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 139/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Doda and investigation of the case is in progress.

Doda Police remains firmly committed towards eradicating the menace of drugs from society and appeals to the general public to cooperate with police by sharing information related to drug trafficking and substance abuse in their respective areas.
