Today, I had the privilege of meeting the Chief Secretary, Mr. Atal Dulloo Ji, and submitted a memorandum highlighting the key issues and development needs of Batote Block. I am hopeful that Mr. Dulloo will take positive action on the demands I raised for the welfare and progress of the people of Batote.

*Mother, Son Arrested as Srinagar Police Solve Blind Murder Case Within Hours*

Srinagar, August 1 : Srinagar Police on Saturday claimed to have solved a blind murder case within six hours of the recovery of an unidentified body, arresting a mother-son duo allegedly involved in the crime.

According to police, an unidentified body wrapped in gunny bags was recovered on July 30 from the Babademb Canal beneath Baba Dawood Khakhi Bridge in the Khanyar area. Following the recovery, Police Station Khanyar registered FIR No. 49/2026 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation.

Given the seriousness of the case, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under the supervision of senior officers. During the investigation, police identified the accused as Haleema Bano and her son, Moomin Ahmad, originally from Machil in Kupwara district and presently residing as tenants at Mughal Mohalla, Rainawari.

Police said the accused fled Srinagar after the incident in an attempt to evade arrest. However, acting on multiple leads, the investigating team traced and apprehended both accused from the Lolab area of Kupwara within hours of the body's recovery.

During the investigation, the deceased was identified as Nazir Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Kalantpora, Hawal. Police said preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was allegedly murdered inside the rented accommodation of the accused following a financial dispute.

According to police, the accused subsequently wrapped the body in gunny bags and dumped it into the Babademb Canal in an alleged attempt to conceal the crime and destroy evidence.

Police said several articles believed to be connected with the commission of the offence have been recovered during the investigation. Further investigation is underway to ascertain whether any other person was involved and to complete the legal formalities.

A Free Eye Care Camp was successfully organized today in Dhalwas Panchayat. The camp was arranged through the efforts of Shahrukh Bhatti, DPAP Founder Member and Former Councillor Batote, who has consistently worked to bring free healthcare services to the people.

The camp was coordinated locally by former Panch Abdul Gani and Shaddi Lal , who played an important role in making the event a success. They expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Shahrukh Bhatti, stating that he has always stood by the people whenever they needed support and has remained committed to serving the community.
On this occasion,Former Block President of DPAP, Ata Mohd Zargar, was also present, along with Ex Panch Abdul Hamid and Shadi Lal.

Ramban Police Attaches Immovable Properties of Four Pakistan/PoK-Settled Terrorists under UAPA

Banihal, July 29, 2026: Acting in compliance with PHQ Order No. 1874 of 2026, conveyed vide Endorsement No. Legal/Seiz-27/III/25/6305-09 dated 24.06.2026, Ramban Police today attached the immovable properties of four Pakistan/PoK-settled terrorists (JKNOPs) under the provisions of Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The attached properties are as under:

1. Abdul Rashid @ Bashir, S/o Late Abdul Aziz Chopan, R/o Zinhal, Banihal – Land under Khewat No. 22 measuring 11 Marlas (inherited), having an approximate value of ₹9.25 lakh.

2. Ghulam Rasool @ Badshah, S/o Late Mohd Bahru, R/o Kundan Khari – Land under Khewat No. 89 measuring 10 Kanals (cultivation rights only), having an approximate value of ₹60 lakh.

3. Abdul Latief Naik @ Sajjad, S/o Ali Mohd, R/o Koot Khari, Banihal – Land under Khewat Nos. 107/108 measuring 3 Kanals (inherited), having an approximate value of ₹20 lakh.

4. Mushtaq Ahmed, S/o Abdul Gani Hajam, R/o Chareel, Banihal – Land under Khewat No. 72 measuring 2 Marlas, having an approximate value of ₹1.52 lakh.

The action has been taken in accordance with the law as part of the sustained efforts of Jammu & Kashmir Police to dismantle the support structure of terrorism by denying terrorists and their associates the benefits of illegally held assets. Such legal measures are aimed at safeguarding public order and reinforcing the rule of law.

Ramban Police reiterates its commitment to taking strict legal action against terrorists, their associates, and all those involved in activities prejudicial to the security and integrity of the nation.
