Sunil Sharma Meets Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Discusses Key Issues of Jammu & Kashmir

New Delhi, September 26, 2026: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, today called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and held detailed discussions on a range of important issues concerning Jammu & Kashmir.

During the meeting, Sharma apprised the Union Home Minister of matters related to the prevailing security situation, law and order, development initiatives, public concerns, and matters related to the ongoing session of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly. He also raised the issue of enhancement of salaries of Special Police Officers (SPOs), which is at the final stage, and requested that the matter be expedited for its early conclusion.

He also highlighted key concerns being raised by the people of Jammu & Kashmir and discussed matters requiring continued attention, coordination, and support from the Union Government.

The interaction provided to deliberate on strengthening security, accelerating development initiatives and addressing issues related to public welfare across the Union Territory.

During the discussion, Amit Shah reiterated the Union Government’s commitment to peace, development, and prosperity in Jammu & Kashmir and assured continued support and cooperation in addressing matters concerning the people of the Union Territory.

Sunil Sharma expressed his gratitude to the Union Home Minister for his guidance and continued support on issues concerning the security, development, and welfare of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad Constitutes Ramban District Unit for 2026‑27

Ramban, Jammu & Kashmir:
Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad today announced the constitution of its Ramban District Unit for the term 2026‑27 during a well‑attended organizational programme held in Ramban.

The event was graced by Smt. Bandana Mehta (Provincial President), Sh. Rohan Nanda (Provincial General Secretary), Sh. Ishan Ji (State Secretary), and Sh. Sunny Mahajan Ji (State Secretary), who were present as distinguished guests.

Addressing the gathering, Smt. Vandana Thakur spoke on various organizational issues and emphasized the importance of strengthening the Parishad’s structure to effectively serve the legal fraternity and society at large. She highlighted the need for commitment, unity, and active participation in advancing the objectives of the organization.

Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Rohan Nanda, Provincial General Secretary, elaborated on the significance of the formation of the district unit and its role in further expanding and strengthening the activities of the Parishad at the grassroots level.

The programme culminated with Smt. Bandana Mehta, Provincial President, formally announcing the District Executive Committee of Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad, Ramban for the year 2026‑27.

ABVP Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh submitted a memorandum to the Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Ms. Sakina Itoo, seeking urgent, transparent and student-centric reforms in Jammu & Kashmir.

Key demands include One UT, One Course, One Fee; Commerce stream in Higher Secondary Schools; time-bound implementation of NEP 2020; strengthening JKBOSE, JKSCERT & DIETs; filling vacant posts; Annual Examination Calendar and CBT centres for transparent recruitment; restarting B.P.Ed./M.P.Ed.; upgrading Nursing Colleges at Malti & Gadigarh; enhancing MBBS interns’ stipend; and reviewing the Junior Pharmacist syllabus.

NH-44 update at 1700 hrs

Restoration work is still in progress on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) between Jakheni (Udhampur District) and Gangroo, Banihal (Ramban District). NH-44 is closed for all types of traffic as per the advisory issued yesterday. Commuters are advised to not to travel until the road is clear for traffic.
