Good morning 🌞
Brighten up your garden with the vibrant charm of the Allamanda flower (commonly called the Golden Trumpet)! 🌿✨
Known for its large, bell-shaped petals and glossy, leathery green foliage, the Allamanda is an evergreen climbing shrub that blooms profusely in warm weather. While sunny yellow is the most iconic shade, varieties also come in rich chocolate-cherry, peach, and purple tones.
Origin: Native to the tropical Americas, particularly Brazil and Central America.
History:
Named in honor of Swiss physician and botanist Dr. Frédéric-Louis Allamand in the 18th century, it has since become a beloved ornamental showstopper across tropical and subtropical gardens worldwide.
Growing Process
* Soil & Potting: Thrives best in rich, organic, well-draining soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH.
* Propagation: Easily propagated via semi-hardwood stem cuttings during the warm, humid monsoon or spring months.
* Support: Being a vigorous climber or sprawling shrub, provide a sturdy trellis, fence, or balcony railing for support.
Care Tips
* Sunlight: Loves full sun! Ensure at least 5–6 hours of direct sunlight daily for maximum blooms.
* Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist during the active blooming season, but avoid waterlogging. Reduce watering slightly in winter.
* Feeding: Feed monthly with a balanced organic fertilizer, compost, or potassium-rich feed like mustard cake liquid to boost flower production.
* Pruning: Lightly prune in late winter or early spring to shape the plant and encourage bushy new growth.
